False Reviews of a Pittsburgh Club!!

OK, I was just sitting here relaxing after cleaning up around the house and thought I would browse around this site. I went to see if there were any new reviews about the local club we like to go to, DJs Island. (http://www.djsprivateclub.com/) What I saw added there just made my stomach churn! Someone, and I suspect a local rival club member, posted a derogatory and FALSE accusation that the club is a WHITES ONLY club!! I can’t believe anyone would lie like that! We’ve been to this club quite a few times and we see people of ALL races, shapes and sizes there. I’ve contacted the owners of the club and also posted another review debunking this out right lie!!

I cannot believe that this site would post something so inflammatory about a club with out at least checking around to make sure this information is true!

If anyone has any doubts about the policies of this club, I am sure an email to the club itself will confirm this to be a false statement.

I will bet my last dollar that someone from the older local club, which is know for spamming local message boards with nonsense, is behind this attack.

All reviews are posted, good or bad. I have no doubt that on more than one occasion false reviews have been posted but short of my attending each and every club listed there is no way for me to personally verify any review and even at that reviews/ opinions do vary from person to person.

I see your point but it still bothers me that someone would post a review that is just so untrue. Now there is indeed a "white's only" club near the city. Perhaps they think they went to DJ's when in fact they went to that other place....

Either way, it is not a true review and I think it should be removed.

I understand that you don't agree with the review. However, if I remove every review that someone doesn't agree with then there would be no reviews left. I can't just post good reviews or it defeats the purpose of having reviews. You can do as you have already done and post rebuttle reviews and the club owner is welcome to post their own rebuttle to be posted with the reviews if they so desire.

While I agree that reviews are to be seen and censorship might not be called for, what IS called for is an inquiry by Swingersboard to all members.
This sort of vile accusation is seen by US as an attack to discredit the owners and members of DJs from a purely hateful position, possibly from competition. Recently other clubs have closed for various reasons, and DJs is growing rapidly. We have been involved with DJs since during construction and have met many couples of a wide variety of ethnic representations, some from other states who have made many return trips!!!!!! Anyone can start a rumor to try to assist their own club gain memberships, some clubs even frown on members visiting other clubs!!! What these miserable people forget is that swingers like variety, not only in friends and partners, but in clubs and other facets of their lives. For a club owner, associate or member to discredit another club in such a vile manner is a discredit to the entire culture.

If it were a real review that was negative, I would just post a rebuttle. This is NOT a real review but a fabrication.

I read the review and it is, in fact, horrible. But - as you pointed out, there is a "white's only" club in Pittsburgh and this may be a case of "mistaken identity".

Either way, the apt defense on this thread of DJs does more to help the clubs reputation than one review does to discredit it. Post a rebuttal so that it becomes part of the club review record and let this thread do what it has already done - cause the majority of us to shrug off the review and consider it bunk.

I can imagine with 50 states to deal with it is pretty tough to run down the source to verify every review written to the boards - but the freedom of this forum is that people can post negative reviews of clubs (which I have done once) and those who disagree (or in this case, know that the review is a steaming pile of "Rosie". [homage paid to Outkast]) can speak up as well. From the outside looking in (and as someone not going to Pittsburgh anytime soon), I'd say that DJ's is coming out on the good side of that review.

I live on the other side of the country from this club so at first didn't take any interest in this. But after reading all of the posts above my curiosity piqued and I went ahead and read the review. The reviewer in question said she never went inside the club. Is it not possible that what she claims may have in fact happened in the parking lot even though it isn't club policy. I've seen some strange things happen in the parking lot of the club we go to and this type of thing seems at least plausible to me. Even though it isn't right and reflects poorly on the club in question, it could have happened.

I agree with what everyone else said though in regards to removing the review, in my opinion if we start censoring the reviews just because it reflects unfavorably on our favorite club it would defeat the whole purpose of having the reviews in the first place. A firm rebutal is the only fair way to handle this, in my opinion.

The club has a reception area at the door that is always staffed by the club. People wouldn’t come out of the club to point and laugh. In fact the greater would be at the door, most likely standing where he can see who is pulling into the parking lot. The greater is always polite and friendly and if you are new he then explains check in to the new couples before sending them through the reception area. I seriously doubt that this would happen in the parking lot in plain site of the greater.

Maybe it is mistaken identity but then again, they do post the clubs name and that other club is almost 60 or 80 miles away.

We feel so fortunate to have this local club to go to. It has a touch of style and class. The staff is super helpful and friendly. If you are a new couple they take some time on your first visit to really show you around, make sure you know the club rules and are comfortable; the rest is up to you.

I’ve noticed this trend happening in other areas where clubs become rivals. It’s sad really but when one considers how much money is at stake and the number of potential clientele I see why some clubs may feel threatened when a new one comes along that everyone enjoys. While the number of new people may always grow in the local swing community, the same numbers of veterans seem to retire or move on. I am guessing but I assume this means that the number of customers for any given area stays relatively stable and doesn’t fluctuate that much.

We’ve also felt fortunate to live in a part of the state where these rivalries don’t get out of control. On the Swing Lifestyle forums for instance, the rivalries between clubs and people in the eastern part of the state evolved into some of the nastiest flamer wars on the state forums there. It was so nasty that at least once the webmaster deleted the entire PA forum to rid it of the venom.

Hopefully we’ll not see that sort of behavior appear here in Western PA.

Julie only has time to review all new club reviews at the end of the week. With a site this big we can't ask for more. I imagine it's quite a daunting task to keep this site up and running smoothly. She does a helluva great job IMHO.

Hopefully it, as well as more reviews by local club goes, will be up soon.

Julie does run one hell of a board here. Sometimes I think she may be super Human!!

But why review them if none get denied?
