Desire Los Cabos becoming Temptations Property in 2/09!!??

All - Just ran into this news and checked around on several forums, including DennyP's website who does a lot of lifestyle travel. It looks like Desire has sold their Los Cabos property to Temptations (which has a sister property in Cancun). It's unclear what this means in terms of the rules for lifestyle folks, but one ad I saw (link below) only says "topless bar". Ug.

What a shame. We were just at Desire Cabo last month and had a great time. It was easier on the wallet than the Cancun resort. Don't know why it never caught on with those who live on the west coast or southwest. I guess we will just have to break the piggy bank for our next Desire vacation.

Temptations is actually the same people who already own Desire. They used to be called Blue Bay but had to give that name up to a former partner when they split up.

Cabo was just not pulling in the lifestyle crowd that Riveria Maya is. Too close to all the other resorts and no beach access 'au naturel.'

Yeah, we posted a thread in the Travel section. What they don't really tell you in that email is that Desire Los Cabos is going away and they are switching it to Temptations (they are both owned by same company). VERY different experience. Topless only, not nude. Single men allow instead of couples only. No PDS or outward lifestyle activities.

I understand they had several good reasons to change - low occupancy, hi-res resort going up next door that will overlook resort, etc. Unfortunately, they have handled the switch over very poorly including taking "Desire" reservations just last week for when the switch was supposed to happen.

It's really too bad, we need more lifestyle friendly resorts like Desire. Thank goodness Desire Cancun is still going strong!

I imagine the reason for some of the "low occupancy" has to do with the fairly poor service on the west side of the country.

One of our "caretakers" at Desire Cancun is shipped to Desire Los Cabos 3 to 4 times a year to teach and re-teach the basics of "service" to the staff on the west side. I imagine the large amounts of money brought in there from the west coast of the US has had a dulling effect on their sense of urgency to provide top quality service to their clients.

As far as Desire Cancun is concerned, I can't imagine finding a more warm and friendly people anywhere in the world than the Mayans along that part of Mexico's coast.
