Raided Club!

Last night we went out to a club for the first time in nearly 3 months. We are there for a few hours, enjoying ourselves, chatting it up with another couple. All of a sudden we notice a swarm of cops around!

That was my first experience being in a club when it was raided! It seems they found some sort of violation and we were all asked to leave.

I was scared out of my mind, though the couple we were talking to said they wouldn't be bothering us. Suddenly images of calling home to ask MIL to bail us out was in my mind lol.

The funniest part is that another friend of ours that was there said this week that the cops would probably be raiding the clubs because of election day being Tuesday. Went up to him and said "yup, you were right, I owe ya one for that one!"

Thnakfully this has never happened to us as we vistit legalised Clubs and the cops here have better things to do with their time.. :rollseyes I would of laughed just the thought of having to call the MIL to bail us out would of had me in stitches laughing!! Sorry i am sure it wasnt funny at the time!! but at least your safe and sound and at home without a scratch so sit down and laugh about it and look forward to the next time it happens!!!!!

Plain clothes vice showed up and talked with the owner, looked at papers and said "have fun' at one party we were at.

Neighbors with 'juice' (power) to do more than a noise complaint got vice over a patrol car. Yes, it WAS a very ritzy neighborhood.

Actually reading here about other raids, I knew the most they would do to us is close the party so we would have to go home early. So we never felt worried and just enjoyed it as part of the entertainment for the evening.

(We did offer the hosts a referral to a house party who sued their neighbors for harassement and won).

It sounds like your experience with getting raided went pretty well, actually, if all they did was ask you to leave. They didn't take your names or anything?

Out of curiousity, what do you exactly mean by "raided"? What were they there for? Drugs? Other law violations? Was this at an actual club in a commercial or industrial area or was it in or near a residential area? Did anyone get arrested and if so on what grounds?

I'm interested in what gave them the right to raid. They had to have "probable cause" to be able to enter. So I guess I am wondering what did they have probable cause to believe was there?

We have friends that were raided at a club in NY also. From what they heard later, someone asked the wrong person if they had any illegal party favors, and the next thing they knew, the cops had everyone in the club on the floor. Funny thing was, one of the couples they were friends with was a cop. Scary indeed, but for the most part, as long as it's a private party that's not in violation of any laws and you don't have any drugs, I think you're probably ok.
