Most (if not all) that I have come across on the internet (including perhaps one or two on your list) are in reality, yahoo groups that seem to function (at best) as online individual hookups for folks (seemingly mostly male) who can't construct an intelligent sentence. Or they are used as a vehicle for on-premise clubs to advertise. This is not necessarily my idea of an "off-premise club." Do these qualify? And if not, do you want to know which of these "clubs" seem to be merely yahoo groups or the like? Is my definition of an off-premise club incorrect? Again like in the "Zoomanity" thread my expectations may not be in alignment with reality. I thought that an off-premise club was an actual physical place (not cyber) run by an actual couple/person with regularly scheduled events (invitation meet and greets) setup by swingers and and attended by same and wannabes (in our case hopefully couples) in a low pressure, non sexual environment. Wannabes might possibly be screened by the organizers by phone for legitamacy. Many people gather and talk face to face about the subject and have the opportunity if they desired, to go play in a different location. I mean, I could see where a yahoo group site could be used as an organizational tool for such events, but have yet to see any evidence of that in the postings. ![]() Last edited by BiloxiCouple : 08-17-2006 at 03:12 PM. |

Also, there are planned socials where people meet at a bar/hotel ballroom or whatever and do the same thing. Meet and leave. If you are a yahoo group and try to get togethers, then that really doesn't fall into an off-premise club definition. Besides anyone can start a yahoo group and do anything they want. As you stated a physical place and regularly scheduled events is the definition of an off-premise club.

Where we live, Texas, true on-premise clubs are illegal. Therefore, off-premise clubs are more of the norm. Where on-premise is legal they tend to be the norm. We've lived in other parts of the country where there wasn't a sufficient density of lifestyle couples to support any sort of club. In these areas, yahoo groups that held meet & greets, socials, and hotel parties were more of the norm. We started and ran a monthly meet and greet in a small city where we lived. |

I do try to get through the listings on a regular basis and clean them up but it's a big job, so I do rely on you guys to report things as you see them, as well. As for Yahoo groups in general, I know of several clubs that use a Yahoo Group as their web presence and there's nothing wrong with that. What I use as criteria when I list them is to look at the group for signs that they do schedule regular events. Sometimes when they initially set the group up that may be the plan, and it may fall apart. It seems that a lot of clubs (on and off premise) use the Yahoo Groups as their source for a web presence just because it's easy and free. |

Some of the groups of people who just connect on the 'net and set up a scheduled meet-and-greet at a local bar/club, where their presence is supposed to be discreet, can be fairly well organized. It just depends on who's doing it and how much they put into it. These are probably most common in towns like we live in, where there are no other swing clubs, on or off-premise, within 150 miles or more. The quoted paragraph above seems to define more what these groups are like, moreso than the off-premise clubs. To me, the business-based "real location" off-premise clubs are a lot more like the on-premise clubs, just without the sex rooms to go directly to. You can cut loose in a real off-premise club, because everyone in the room is a swinger (or wants to be) and you don't have to be discreet. ![]() | |

If I remember correctly, it was an AOL group. I don't think it was strictly swingers, but from the reports I received, many of the regulars were swingers. I can't recall the name of the bar they met at, or even what night of the week, just that it was supposedly a very well attended affair. That might stir someone's memory enough to find out more info and if that group still exists. |
