mrs good times gives some great advice
Default Las Vegas Lifestyle Convention

We have been considering attending the convention for the first time and hope someone here can help us with a few questions. We have reviewed the website and even called them but we are still unsure.

The reasons we are waivering is the cost of the convention itself, $688.00. The problem for us is that we are not sun goddess types so the pool would be limited, the seminars don't really interest us and I can see exhibits of sex toys right here in town. I've been to lots of magic shows so I don't really need to see another one. What that leaves us with is $688.00 for 3 dances and 2 dinners.

So, those of you that have gone as a full paying attendee, is it really worth the cost? Is there more to this than advertised? What are we missing? Surrender

We need some tips from those of you that have gone before us.

We went July of last summer '05 for the first time. We had such a blast, we went back for Nawlin's in Vegas in November and are attending July's LT&T convention at the Stardust again. Skip the meal plan which reduces the convention cost; there are so many great places to eat rather than the convention food. The real value in traveling to the convention is you mainly get true swingers without issues, and a wide variety of people imho. While some can fall into groups and cliques there are so many people new as well that it keeps so many open minded to meeting new folks. All there know what they want and relatively few have issues as opposed to those who stay local to "test the waters." As for not being sun god/ess , July in Vegas can top 100 deg's (screw the saying "it's dry so it feels ok"; still scorching) ; so during the day you may alternate between being at the pool parties and heading inside for eats and the casino's. BTW being so hot at the pool resulted in our shortest introduction to people before heading to our room; about 15 minutes I think; our record. Give it a try; if you don't like it, you don't have to go again, but nothing ventured nothing gained. Our 2 cents. Tom and Liz.

Ted and I both have mixed feelings about the Lifestyles Convention.

We had a blast last year when we went, but this was due to the people we were with and those we met while there. We met some extremely interesting people that were just awesome and had a blast hanging with them.

The convention itself is one of the best run events I've ever been to. The restrictions imposed on what could be worn, being in a hotel that had vanilla people staying there (kids as well), left something to be desired.

We're not into worshiping the sun, so the pool area held little appeal for us. The seminars held no interest to us. The market place was cool, but once you had been around once the appeal was lost for us. Gambling...did a little but not much appeal there. The dances...they did an extremely cool job of them but, being restricted as to what could be worn in a closed room that was only suppose to have those signed up for the convention in it, well...not what we are used to. The suite parties after the dance...totally cool.

Would we go again? That's a toss up...probably one day, still haven't decided yet if we are going this year or not. However, if we do go again we know exactly where we would spend the majority of our time...Vegas Lee's suite parties as those are the type of parties we are used to.

You get out of the convention what you are willing to put into it and if you don't have fun it really is your own fault, there is something there for everyone, from the mild to the extremely wild...we had a blast because of the people, not the convention itself. It really is something that we are so glad we had the chance to experience...having that many swingers in one place...indescribably awesome.

I went in the summer of 2004, had a good time but got heat stroke from hanging out at the pool during the day. The only shade to be had was bought up by people who had reserved canvas covers.

I agree it was well run, we loved the market place, lots of freebies. There was an art show the year we went which was worth seeing. I had wanted to attend some of the seminars but never made it to them.

The hotel being mixed was a little nerve racking since some of the events took you through lobbies where families and numerous single males were gawking.

The dances were wild, dinner was great but despite the large room you couldn't get near the dance floor, it was hard to move around (too crowded) and it took forever to get a drink. But just standing to one side to see all the outfits was worth while.

We stayed at a different hotel to cut the cost, half the price next door at the Frontier and they gave us an upgrade to a suite for free.

I think you can just pay for certain events but not positive, suggest emailing for confirmation. I know many locals tended to come to only certain events over the weekend.

There were also hotel suite parties after the dances. We did not attend as were told very clearly if you went in a suite you were expected to play.

Oh yeah and the heat...yeah dry heat nothing...it was like being inside an oven. Not much grass around and the concrete holds the heat, step outside and you were suddenly coated in sweat.

Wink Re: Las Vegas Lifestyle Convention

We are back in vanilla/vertical world from our first Lifestyle Convention . It is quite an adjustment from being at the Convention surrounded by 3000 of the coolest, well adjusted, sexy, fun, friendly, loving people! Everywhere you would walk there were swingers with their Lifestyle armbands, sexy outfits and fun personalities! It was nice being able to be the majority and not have to hide our lifestyle to the public for four days.

The Convention was a blast! Very well organized with tons of events, seminars, parties that covered a wide varity of interests! There were two of the seminars that ended up being too popular...we were able to squeeze inside one of them-the Squirt Shop workshop but we arrived a few minutes late to the other one- Behind the Scenes of XXX Adult Video, and it was already packed to the limit.(we did get a full, detailed report from friends that did make it in that one) My favorite seminar was- How to Become a Polyorgasmic Couple, lead by Jim Thomsen. I was blown away by all the valuable information I gained about orgasms and the latest sexual research (and having fun exploring what I learned about myself and John is enjoying what I learned about men and their orgasms too)!! I can not wait until his upcoming book is released, The G-Spot Revisited. I am certain that this will be a groundbreaking book and will be a POSITIVE influence on our society.

Vegas was hot, 117 one day! I just told the first vanilla person who asked how our trip to Vegas was ..."It was HOttt!" and just smiled and winked at John. The dances and parties were Hottt! It was great meeting the people from clubs around the country who had sponsored the late night parties in the Suites and at the pool. I didn't venture out to the pool during the day but got lots of sexy reports from couples that did and they said it was hot, but were not referring to the temperature!

John and I were given the priviledge of recording audio all throughout the convention for our internet radio show. We interviewed the leaders of the Lifestyle Organization, some of the seminar leaders about their topics of expertise, club owners, some vendors with the latest sex products, resorts etc., and met up with many couples who shared their experiences in the Lifestyle and at the convention, and of course we shared our experiences in detail. We recorded over 6 hours of audio and will start putting it out in multiple episodes as soon as we can catch our breaths and get caught up on some work we missed in our Vanilla world.

I'm looking forward to reading others' experience at convention on this board!

Cheers,
Allie

We're considering going to the convention this year. Is this a couples only event or does it get bombarded by single males. No offense to the single males out there... I used to be one. My wife and I want to hook up and meet new couples and we've got a plethora of single males to choose from if we wish here in the Dallas area.

Did you ever go to this Goodtimes and if so what did you think?

I read that this year will be a hotel takeover in August. I don't think that it's in the cards for us this year, but someday I would really enjoy going to the convention. It's weird, but it's something I've wanted to do since I was a teenager. (cable TV)

I am always interested in hearing people's thoughts of it. I tried to research the 2007 convention but keep coming up with blank pages. Anyone have some links?

No, we actually decided not to go as most of the people we talked to that had been to past conventions said pretty much the same thing as was stated above except that most agreed if you had to pay full price, which we would have, it isn't worth the money. We called the convention folks up and asked them if we could just pay for individual events as we have some place we can stay in Vegas for free, and they said we could but they weren't the events we were interested in. We were most interested in attending the suite parties and they told us that if we didn't pay the full price we couldn't go to those. If I remember right the only things we could pay to attend separately were the sales area, one of the dinners and maybe one of the dances, not sure about the last one though as it has been a year since we talked to them. Anyway, as going to Las Vegas isn't a vacation for us because it is just basically a bigger more expensive version of Reno, our home town, it just wouldn't be worth it for us.

Hey, you can always just come to the Reno "Great West Meet-up" instead this year. The company is good, the lodging is about half the price of Vegas, the casino action is the same, just less walking because they are smaller, and the food is as good but about half the price. If you decide you want to visit an on-premise club while your here, I can get you in for free and the host will buy you your first drink on the house. Alright, I'll admit, that was a shameless plug for our meet-up, all true none the less.

We went to last summers convention. I don't recall seeing any single males. The dinners and dances were all couples. Kinda overwhelming walking into the main ballroom for the dances and seeing at least a few thousand people Quite the change from the local dances where we see perhaps 100-200 people

GT.....you didn't miss much at the suite parties. Unless your into exhibitionism. Every suite we visited (and we checked them out each night ) had too many couples just standing around watching ....fully clothed to boot. That's too distracting for us. So we just hung out and mingled in the bar area of the suites. And the reason they wanted to charge you full price for the suite visits was because you needed to have a wristband to get into that part of the hotel. Yep....we wore wristbands for the whole weekend Bothered us a little at first....but we got used to it and didn't care who noticed. I even got asked by a lady at a craps table in a different casino what it was for. She didn't say much more after I told her

Yea, that is what we have heard from some others that went too. When we asked last year we got a lot of comments from friends that had attended previous conventions that it was fun but probably cost more than it was worth. Then after this years convention we were surprised how many people told us that they were actually dissatisfied with this years convention.

We are still bummed we didn't get to meet you guys yet though.

Default Re: Las Vegas Lifestyle Convention

Seems this thread comes up every year about convention. This is only my view since we have been to the convention every year for about Ten years now.

Convention, Like any party is what YOU make of it. Nothing more, nothing less. All the convention does is bring a couple thousand like minded people together and you do with it what you want. It is all up to you.

Worth the price? That is always a personal view also. They have a market place with many vendors all in one place. They have eight pool parties that are just for the convention attendees. The pool parties seem to be the most attended thing at convention. They have four dances that you get to dress in themes for if you are into that. There is many "suite parties" each night. Most of them are social, people dressed getting drunk and hanging out. Every year that has been a suite that has nothing but naked people having sex in it. Even last year. I know because we have been in that suite all four nights of convention each year. Last year it was the only suite that was down next to the pool. Chances are that "naked suite" will not be at convention this year though, the hosts are getting a bit tired of hosting it each year.

There is also bar meets once or twice a day/night so you have a chance to meet people that you might want to hook up with. Seminars about most anything and everything. Some like those, some don't.

Two dinners that make for a good chance to also meet people.

Four years ago at the Aladdin the convention got smaller. The last three years at the Stardust the convention has got bigger each year. Every Year there is some people that do not like the convention. That has been the way for over thirty years. When you get a couple thousand people all in one place there is no way everyone is going to be happy with it. That is just life. Convention, as with this Lifestyle is NOT for everyone. Just because someone did not like it does not make it bad, just like this Lifestyle once again.

75% of the people that go to convention, just like 75% of the people that go to swing clubs are not swingers. They are there for what it is and the excitement of it all but they are not going to swing.

This years convention is going to be one of the smallest in years. They only have 715 suites at this hotel and Lifestyles has taken over all of them. The whole place is smaller. By law they can not close the casino so no, you can not run around naked in the casino.

Their web sites where down for a couple of weeks but they have got them back up now. You can find info here about this years Vegas Convention: http://www.lifestyles-conventions.com

They are also holding their other convention in Florida that is smaller and many people like that it is smaller. Info on it can be found here: http://www.lifestylesflorida.com/

Conventions do nothing but bring together the people. If it works for you it is a good thing, if not then it is a bad thing. You have to make your own fun out of it.

We will not be in Florida but we will once again be at the Las Vegas Convention. Be sure to let us know if you are coming so we can meet some new friends!

Default Re: Las Vegas Lifestyle Convention

just came across this thread and we'll add some additional information about our experience at last summer's Convention; our first. We had a blast; paid for the whole enchilada and enjoyed the very well organized events; the two buffet dinners were much better than anticipated, and those hours enabled our meeting several nice couples from around the country.

After dancing our asses off for hours among a throng of sexy party-animals of all ages (all the way up to some VERY senior years as well, God bless em all), we made our way nightly to the penthouse party-suites. While a prior post was accurate, we did encounter one room within a suite that consistently had a really good party going on, and we were always in the middle of it. We thanked the hosts on the 2nd night, because unlike the 1st night they were informing guests that this was a party-only room for people getting down to business; and that's exactly what transpired. If you had not moved beyond a crowded welcoming room, then onward through another long living-room, around a corner and into the next room, you would never have found where this active party-room was located; and likely many people never even got close. We heard about plenty of other parties going on in various private rooms of the hotel; so accomplishing much of the fun is up to adventuresome couples doing a good job of meeting people during the day at the pool, at seminars and at the dinners and dances.

Overall we felt Lifestyles did a really good job with the organization and programming, and our attendance at this year's event is under serious consideration.

Don't get me wrong, we had a great time last year. We enjoyed a few seminars, the booth displays and met some fine couples. And we did venture to the back of the suites....but there were still too many gawkers for our comfort. Exhibitionism is just not our thing.

And with respect to Vegas Lee and the Red Rooster suite, somehow we never found ourselves in your suite. We love to party nekkid, so maybe we missed the party most suited to us

Will we go back to another convention......probably. But the desert is effin hot in July/August We like to get out and see the strip without melting into the pavement :rollseyes
