My girlfriend has just been diagnosed with HPV. We have unprotected sex quite often. Do I undoubtedly have HPV now? We are not sure yet if the case of HPV my GF has is the cancerous strain or not. If it is NOT, and I have sex with other women and they get infected, can it still turn cancerous? For those of you that have it, is your sex life ruined? Who wants to be involved with someone who has and HPV? Should I contact all my past parteners now? Sorry, I am just freaking out. It's amazing how my life can change overnight. If anyone has some answers, please help me out. Thanks, ![]() |

The link here is helpful http://www.fhma.com/human_pappiloma_virus.htm As I have said before, the report of these things is so often incomplete that people freak. HPV is present in a majority of people. Some do not get any symtoms, some get genital warts, and a few HPV strains are implicated in cervical cancer. Some 97% of cervical cancer patients have a form of HPV, thus the link. Discuss this with your MD or NP. This is a fly in the swinger ointment IMO. Condom use will not fully protect either partner as the adjacent areas of the genitalia can transmit HPV. |
