Blood discharge from penis after cumming

After our last intercourse, there was a small amount of blood on the tip of my penis. Nothing unusual had happened during intercourse. No pain, burning, no missing the mark during wild thrusting, etc. In fact, we didn't notice anything at all until about 5 minutes after we finished. I had gotten up was walking around and she noticed the blood on the end of the penis. Also, there seemed to be a a little semen mixed with it as one might expect. It wasn't active bleeding, if you dabbed it away the only way you could get more was by squeezing the head of the penis a little, and then could get another drop to come out of the urethra. Did that a couple times, then nothing at all. Peed about 10 minutes later, no blood.

I'm in my early 40s and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened to me. I try to stay well informed about sexual health issues, but actually I had never heard of this happening before, so wanted to see what experiences of others here were. Searching the internet, it seems the most likely culprit is a burst blood vessel in the urethra, although it could possible be in the prostate too. This blood was bright red, which some suggested was more likely to mean urethra. I'm not too worried about an STD at this point, it's been over a year since we have full swapped, we use condoms, and there are absolutely zero other symptoms.

I'm not too shook up about it. If it is indeed a burst vessel, just one of those weird things that bears watching but should resolve itself in a short time. However, I did read on the internet that for some men once this starts, it becomes a nagging problem that will go away for awhile, then happen again, and you can't predict it. Most report having had batteries of tests run with no real answers as to what is actually causing it.

So, does anyone have any experience with this happening to you too?

From a physician...
Hemospermia or hematospermia( technical names for what you experienced) is fairly common, although you're a bit on the older side (mostly before 40 years old). As you point out, it's the first time it's happened to you. Most likely from trauma, and most likely benign. The rule of...er...thumb...is ten episodes gets a workup. Given that you're past 40, I might start a workup if you have half a dozen episodes. Trauma, infection, stricture...lots of benign causes on the list before serious things like tumor.

Again, a first episode and an isolated episode, do nothing. If it recurs a few times, you should have a chat with your physician and likely a urologist. Again, the likelihood that this is something bad is very, very small.

Happened to me once while playing with a partner. I think it was a bit of constricture.. while ejaculating something held it back for a split second. Can't remember what though (maybe position) it's been a while. Kinda freaked me a bit at the time but I never had it happen again and hadn't thought about it til this post. I did get really worried..its a burst capilary.. took it easy for a couple of days .. havent seen it happen again.

Oh.. that day i did get a bit of a buring sensation when i urinated.
