We have been happily married over 25 years and are beginning our journey into the lifestyle. Should we have shots or something before we get started.

By golly, I've never heard this question asked before.... I think you should take precautions accordingly to risk factors, or at least exposer. I mean, we don't have rabies or anything.....But boy, I sure wish I would have taken my first flu shot this year. Do you have a close enough relationship with your doctor to inquire ? b |

(*blink blink*) ...I didn't realize there were preventative shots one could take - unless you're referring to "depo" or some other birth-control shot. |

| There is no stupid question, just new ones. As with anything in life you should be up on your vaccines as you never know what may happen. To my knowledge there are no vaccines against any stds (except the new one for hpv in younger women).

Yep, there are versions of Hep for which there are vaccines. If you haven't had them it would be a good thing to get. Not to mention getting the seasonal flu vaccine isn't a bad idea either since you're likely to be much "closer" to others that time of year than you would otherwise be |

All I can think of are maybe Jello Shots. But I'm eagerly awaiting whatever more serious answers there might be to the question.

When we went to the std clinic to get tested (which we do a couple of times a year), they strongly suggested that we get Hep B shots, which we did. There is no vaccine for Hep c.

I've been vaccinated for Hep B. I guess it's one less thing to worry about... Not sure if there are any others... I don't think so, with the exception of flu (which doesn't sound like a bad idea) or HPV in young women. I'd stay away from alcohol shots to a degree, it, like many things, can affect performance. |

A shot of both of yall for the profile photo would be nice, other than that, I'd say just give swinging your best shot and enjoy the enhanced level of communication between you. |

I'd recomend Jack Daniels if that helps you to be more comfortable... Seriously though, Hep B and HPV is a wise choice according to our doctor. |

Hep A isn't a bad shot to have either. It a series of 2 shots. Hep B consists of a series of 3 shots. Make sure you get all of them. Like was mentioned before, there is no vaccine against Hep C. There are over 100 different types of HPV. More than 30 are spread by genital contact. There is a vaccine against HPV for (I think, I can't remember) 4 of the worst types that can cause cancer. Others are, unfortunately, treated after you get them. |
