Birth Control Pill: How many use it?

I'm currently on the pill for medical reasons, rather then bc.
I hate it, and I would not trust myself with it for bc, as I'm not good with taking it every day.
I loved my IUD, and hope to get back on that if a relationship came along again

Do you ever ask what and even IF the women you play with are using birth control? Other than the obvious condom being used, which I don't consider much of a safety net for protection from pregnancy, I would think swingers would want to have more protection in place. I would never play with condoms alone, I'd always use the birth control pill if I was still having my periods.

Do other forms of b.c. provide the accuracy of the pill in knowing when a women's period will begin?

After Gator had a vasectomy I stopped using birth control pills. After about 10 years, for various reasons, the doctor put me back on a low dose pill. This helped with basically everything he wanted it to. (I'll admit that he had tried to get me to do this for 3 years before I would agree.)

I read an article about a year after I started back on the pill about a different kind where you have a period 4 times a year. This sounded great to me and if I was going to take them I might as well get the most from them. My doctor didn't have a problem with it either. The only thing with them I could complain about was that by the time 3 months rolled around I was so used to not having a period that they "seemed" worse. They in fact were not. (I did have a small amount of break through bleeding for the first 6 months. Which research proved was normal.)

Maybe a couple of years ago, I heard about a birth control pill that eliminates your periods all together. Doctor didn't have a problem giving these to be either. (And I am almost 45 now...but low risk in regards to other factors.) When I heard about these pills, I thought since part of the reason I was put on them to start with was to regulate my periods (could have them every 15 days to 85 days between) I might as well regulate them on out the door.

I started taking bc pills before swinging but they were a nice backup to condoms once we started. Now that I'm in a poly relationship they are very important. Of the four of us, Tech and I are the ones that are not fixed. They are used for birth control at this point.

I feel great on the pills. No side effects to date. Sex drive is just fine. Well, Gator and Tech may think it could be a little lower I guess.

No one asks me either. Although at 42 I'm not likely to get pregnant, it is possible.

It always amazes me how little this is talked about before play. When we play with a new couple whose female half is in her 30s, which happens a lot, neither of us even thinks about it. We are so used to knowing how our own birth control works that it doesn't even cross our minds as a question. It's one of those things that is wrong, but there it is. We use condoms, but like LikeMinds321 said, we would not consider them a good birth control method.

The only thing I can say is that I guess people don't bring it up because there is an implied responsibility on the part of each couple to make sure their female half doesn't get pregnant from swinging. It's not that we don't care about others, we just know that when it comes down to it, it's all on us for our protection and on others for theirs.

I cannot take any form of hormone-based birth control. Well, I can, but it kills my libido. When we first discovered this, Mr. Sweet opted for a vasectomy. Once we decided that swinging was more than just a passing phase for us, I decided condoms weren't good enough, and had my tubes tied.

It always amazes me how little this is talked about before play.

If we meet someone at a Meet & Greet or through online ads, we take the time to find out. But at house/hotel parties, it doesn't always come up. We decided that all we can do is be responsible for ourselves and hope that others are taking the same care for themselves.
