My wife has been on the pill now for quite some time, so I've been very comfortable with her playing with other guys (using condoms) to avoid the risk of pregnancy. So now its 2008, and we've made the decision that with no more kids in our future, its time for me to get a vasectomy. My wife has mentioned that once I get the vasectomy that there should no longer any reason for her to continue taking the pill. I said to her, 'what about us continuing in the Lifestyle? Are you comfortable playing with other men with the only protection used is a condom?' Her response was that she was comfortable with only using a condom with her playmates. I told her that I was a little uncomfortable with that, so now she is reconsidering going off the pill even though I am still going through with my vasectomy. My question is, are there any couples out there who practice this in the Lifestyle? and if so any concerns, past experiences? Thanks! |

When we play, we use condoms as the only method of birth control for her right now, but we've been tossing around the idea of her restarting the Pill, we haven't made a decision yet.

More than once finding the condom still up inside after playtime was over, gave them a very nasty scare. I suspect the males just forgot to take care pulling it out cuz it's not their norm at home-the wives are fixed. Course it caused drama since the scared couple told everyone and used names I think it can be done but you need to talk about what happens if a pregnancy happens. My hats off to those of you who can cope with that risk.

SHe currently has no health issues with being on them, so as long as that is the case I think we'd be better staying on them. |

| Swingers Board Addict | Condoms are our only form of contraception. (I also replied on the other thread that rpu3 referenced.) Part of that decision is the way that the pill is affecting me now (I used to be on them and don't recall them affecting me this way). I'm bitchy and irritable for 3 weeks out of 4 (perfectly sociable on the period week...oh the irony...lol)...sex was painful, and it practically took an act of Congress to have an orgasm (between it hurting and overall sensitivity...well no dice). How often do you swing? I mean, I might consider some form of BC if we were out playing every night of every weekend...but for as infrequently as we do it, I don't place it that high on my list of concerns.

I do know that the guys have to be flushed out from the tubes and he said everything checked out ok. My friend..she still uses the pill since she actively swaps and has no desire to be pregnant at 36 years old. Now at my age I have no problem getting pregnant but I prefer to know the guy first. |

Maria -- did the doctors say why you might be having such an adverse reaction to the pill? Did they give you an opportunity to try others? On the other hand -- if you're fine as frog's hair with condoms, then it's a mute point ![]() | |

However, I am perfectly fine with just using condoms. Having not been on the pills for so long, I really have been able to notice changes during the monthly cycle and can tell when I'm ovulating. I know it's not 100%...but we get out to play maybe once every few months at best, and use condoms with spermicide.
