Can condoms protect from Herpes

We are more of a hot wife couple, and my wife has been having sex with men and using condoms. She just found out that one of the men has herpes but no outbreak in over a year. Should she be worried? there was no oral on him and a condom was used. :surrender

Also should she still have safe sex with him, and still be safe??

Well, if you watch the commercials on TV you are led to believe that herpes can be shed even without an outbreak, most experts disagree with that though.

To answer your question though, no, condoms provide limited to no protection from the transfer of the herpes virus. How much protection condoms provide varies widely depending on which expert you ask, but virtually none of them believe that a condoms provides significant protection from herpes from what I have read.

So, I agree with what Spoomonkey said, if you want to reduce the risk of contracting herpes, then she should move on from him.

Herpes can be spread using Condoms.
The Virus can be on the external sitting on the
testicles and that can spread to the vagina.
Fingering can spread Herpes from one Vagina to another.

CDC's website claims that latex condoms are highly effective against HIV. Other websites I visited said that your specific statement is a myth and that latex condoms provide a good barrier against HIV.

Your statement might hold some truth with condoms that are made from some sort of membrane though. If you have information that counters this, I would love to see your sources.

Not my point. Just saying that using one is better than not in my opinion.

It no doubt offers some protection. Simply saying that it isn't effective at all could be misleading. I'm all for people making their own educated decisions.

As far as being worried, eh, if she shows no signs within a month or so, she is probably in the clear. You can get a blood test after 12 weeks, and herpeSelect will tell you type one or type two.

as far as should she still have sex with him? that is for you to decide, as a couple. for me, lying about having herpes (or, not disclosing that fact) is not acceptable to me, and I would not sleep with that person again.

A person simply having herpes would probably put them out of my "want list" for casual sex, yet I would still have a relationship or friendship with them, which may turn sexual in the future.

The ASSHOLE knew he had herpes and didn't tell you until after you'd been intimate with him. I'm a generally peaceful guy but this calls for one of the great beatings of the 21st century. Not only would we NEVER be with the scumbag again I'd throw him out of our lives so hard he bounced twice.
Everybody knows that swinging involves certain risks but these are risks we take ourselves. I wont endanger others and I despise those who will. In an orgy setting I change condoms when I change partners. I go through a lot of condoms that way but I wont take a chance with the health of the lovely sweet ladies who choose to play with me.
It's just basic consideration and this puke was willing to risk someones health for his own jollies.

It's doubtful, it really depends on where his outbreaks typically are. If they are in an area typically covered by a condom you may be ok, if not then a condom won't cut it.
