Do either of you suffer from a Latex Allergy? How do you manage this within the lifestyle? I (female) have an allergy to Latex that continues to get worse by the year and by any exposure. We use non-latex condoms (there are several on the market now) and speak to our prospective partners regarding the allergy. |

I too suffer from a latex allergy Amanda. We do the same thing you do. We use non-latex condoms. When communicating online we explain it to them throughout conversation rather than wait til last minute. We feel that they would want to know in case they are die hard latex fans. So far all we have been met with is "Cool, no problem, you want to bring them or do you want us to provide them?" to which we tell them we are more than happy to provide them since it is my allergy and they are a just a shade more costly than regular latex.

I too have a latex allergy. Related to working in healthcare for over 20 years and all those latex gloves. So far, no one has had any problem with the non-latex condoms.

Dog and I are allergy free with regards to latex. I would not see a problem with non latex condoms. I havn't concerned myself with condoms since before I got married. I guess I better reintroduce myself to them now that I am looking to enter the lifestyle. Your friend, Prettylady ps I hope the guys have better luck getting the things on then they did back when I was using them. Hee Hee |

Muffy is allergic to latex, we always just bring plenty of our prefered brand with us. That way there is no "Sorry, we forgot, guess we'll have to go bareback.." It's just like an American Express card, don't leave home without 'em! Chip |

We tend to carry a few ourselves. We run into more and more people that are allergic to Latex (I guess it is the new peanut allergy). Pretty Lady condoms have come along way and are much easier to get on than they once used to be. |

Neither of us have a latex allergy, but we've used the non-latex ones before as well as the latex ones. There's no discernable difference we can find in use, application, or removal.

We have had no problems with condoms so far. But, I (the male half) have been having a problem using latex gloves recently. My job has me using them approx once or twice a week. I’ve used them for years and never had a problem till about a month ago. I thought I got into some poison ivy when playing ball with the nephews. My fingers were itching like crazy, right in between the fingers, on the webs. It was terrible. It came and went and I thought it was just the poison ivy trying to dry up. So I went a week or so not using any gloves. Everything cleared up. Last week I drove two hours to a job, wore gloves for about thirty minutes. On the way home my hands were driving me mad...We played the other night, using a condom and had no problem. Any of you health care people experienced anything like this? Since we do use condoms intermittently, it’s frightening to think this could cause this kind of itch somewhere else, someday.

It will...unfortunately a latex allergy is a cumulative allergy like a bee sting. The more you are exposed the worse it gets. Mine started also with rubber gloves, I always wore them to do dishes and to clean the house. It last showed up when I was trying to blow up balloons. That was when it first effected my asthma as well. |

I worked in the Nuclear field for many years and we used latex gloves for protection from radioactive contamination. From the information provided to me, everyone will entually develope a latex allergy. It is just a matter of time. This is why so many hospitals etc... are switching to non-latex products. Some of the people I know has allergic reactions to latex paint. Something everyone should know! |

Here is a website link for more details on latex allergies http://www.hse.gov.uk/latex/about.htm seems there are two types of the allergy and I am the type 1, the worst and the most likely to turn anaphalactic, always nice to know that. We were at a party on the weekend with just a few balloons at one end of the room, I lasted less than an hour before I was wheezing and scratching full on. In a related note, Latex paint no longer contains actual latex (yeah I know so why not change the name). It does however contain Formaldehyde and a few other nasty chemicals, that when wet many are allergic to. (Yeah I am allergic to that too) Plastic bubble here I come.... |

We utitlize non-latex condoms, speak to our partners about it and opt for no spermacide. It has worked well for us. | |
