| Posts: n/a | This was brought up in another thread and I was wondering...... What was your experience? When I got what I dubbed "The Big V" 5 years ago I had NO pain or discomfort what so ever. Granted the needles stung a little but only about 5 seconds. After that I felt nothing. I followed the docs advice and didn't do shit for a week. I layed in a lawn chair drinking beer and rotating bags of frozen peas on my nuts. The whole procedure took 45 minutes. From walking in to walking out. I have had teeth cleanings that were worse than that. Best thing I have ever done!! Last edited by Mr&Mrs-naughty : 01-26-2005 at 04:53 PM. Reason: Mrs Naughty informed me it is "Frozen", not "Frozed" ...lol |

You are too funny Mr naughty! Mr LM had the same smooth-going experience about seventeen years ago. The event is most memorable because they told him to come in "shaved" the day of the procedure. We had a fun time that day, me shaving ALL of Mr LM's pubic hair off. He was smooth a a babies bottom, everywhere! When the doctor and nurse moved the cotton gown aside, they stopped, stared, and had quite the expression on their faces. I think it took everything for them to keep from laughing. All the nice doctor said was, "Well, you did a very thorough job." What they meant when they said "shave" was the removal a mere 2" X 2" area of hair on his scrotum, where the tiny incision would be made. We went WAY OVERBOARD. LM | |

It was okay for the first few days and he did exactly what he was supposed to for the time he was supposed to do it. The day he was to go back to work he only made it half a day and he was in excrutiating pain and came back home. He was still icing at work and continued to ice. He went back to the dr. and the dr. said he developed blood clots and they would eventually reabsorb. He had these extra lumps for quite some time and they were painful to the touch. Eventually one became so huge he just couldn't take it anymore and went back. They did an ultrasound and he found out he developed a sperm granuloma, a clip came off and he was leaking sperm in to the outer areas where it collected and became a hard ball. The only thing to do was surgery. So he was put under general anesthesia and they removed this huge mass from his testicle and the incision was enough to make even a woman wince. He developed complications from the surgery (I'm not even to talk about that) and it took a little over two months to become pain free. All in all what was supposed to be a quick in an out from the office became a 9 month struggle. All is good now, but there is some question whether or not the other side may need to be redone later on.

That is the key right their, everyone I know personally who had problems and excessive pain didn't follow that advise. A couple of examples of what not to do; My ex brother in law came home from his vascectomy procedure and was feeling so good he decided to unload about a ton of fertilizer. One day he is shoveling shit, the next day he felt like it. His nuts swelled up the size of oranges for about a week. Or my buddy, who decided to take his peas and beer and go rest at the lake. He was feeling so good the next day and had drank enough beers that watter sking seemed like to good an idea to pass up. Again, stupidity was rewarded by a week of pain. Fortanately for me, I got to see these two guys having their learning experiance. So when it came time to get mine, I went home and sat in my lazyboy with my drink, my frozen peas, and my telephone to handle any problems that came up at work. Like Mr. Naughties analogy, I've had worse teath cleanings. Someone gave me a peice of advice before I had mine that I will pass on now. The theory is that the Doctor that does the most of them in town will probably do the best job, that doctor is usually the one who has the contract to do them for Planned Parenthood, so I called the local planned parenthood and asked them who did theirs. In my case it turned out it was my regular doctor.

Got mine done on a Friday afternoon, and spent that night and the next day on the recliner with the ice bag. Sunday I walked around a bit and went to a movie. Monday I was back at work and a regular schedule. No problems at all. |

| Here to Stay | 18 years ago - Went just fine thank you very much. The drugstore even sold this special jock strap to make sure that the twins were gently cradled and not jostled about like ping pong balls. Still wearing it today, you can never be too careful, okay, okay, just joking, took it off last year. Some guys think they immediately have to prove their manhood in some sort of physical manner. One buddy played football about 6 hours after the operation and wondered why the twins swelled up to the size of grapefruit. Me Tarzan, you Jane - Me dumb as stump. Fred

SLS Name:Spoomonkey | Well - I will start out by saying that a shot in the nuts feels exactly like you would expect a shot in the nuts to feel... And - of course - they don't just give you a shot in one testicle; they give you a shot in both of them! OW! And THEN the doctor looks up from between my trembling legs, his comb-over glistening, and says in broken english, "you feel pain, I do again." Riiiiight... There is no way in hell I am going to ask for another shot in the sack... No way in hell... First nut went just fine - didn't feel a thing and was fascinated by the puff of smoke that came with the cauterizing. I was starting to relax. Then he started on nut number two (that's my "pet name" for it). The numbing apparently didn't take. Did you know that can happen? I felt every pull, twist, snip and clip. And - with my legs writhing and my hands gripping, I literally begged him for one more chance at that damn needle. "Please give me another shot!!!" I remember screaming, as the room started to spin and retreat as I neared blackout from the pain. "You can feel?" "FUCK YES I CAN FEEL!!!" I have to wonder how many men left the lobby when I screamed that. The agony in my voice was a hot liquid that no doubt sprayed the lobby men and their wives with an acrid fear that would haunt the rest of their mortal lives - and possibly follow them into the after world, a painful reminder of their fragile human state. "You can feel?" He asked again, still pulling like an old lady intent on her crochet. "Interesting..." And he DIDN'T give me a shot! No sweet needle to give me relief! He tugged, twisted, cut, pulled - and I felt like William Wallace (Braveheart) being gutted... When I was done, I walked pathetically through a dead quiet waiting room; men with deeply furrowed brows, wondering if I would help them escape their fate; women with evil "getting-even" smirks... Vasectomy or shit? For me, bring on the steaming poo-poo platter, please... Spoomonkey

| Swingers Board Addict | From a Wifes perspective: Mr. Indy got a VAs for my Valentines day present in 2000 while I was pregnant with our Third child. My OBGYN had encouraged him to get it at our previous appointment where I discussed getting my tubes tied after the childbirth. Mr. Indy was cool with it, although a bit nervous. He didn't take anything before going, and that really sucked! I wish they had given him a valum or something to take before going after him with the needle. He said getting the shot was the worst too. From there, it was over so fast, I am not sure he even really remembers it. I was sitting at the end of his bed and saw the whole thing. To me it seems pretty minor. We left there about 30 minutes later. Mr. Indy never complained during his convolescing. He sat on the couch with a 6 pack between his legs and watched movies for the weekend and went back to work on Monday. He had swelling on Monday from all of the walking he had to do at work, but he was fine. Now... almost 5 years later he tells the story as it was the most tragic and lifethreatening experience of his life! 'But for the grace of god I survived and am here to tell about it' Ask a woman who has had 3 kids and recieved several shots in the clitorial region for the epesiotomies how much sympathy there is?

But that will all change when he reads your post. Do you have to be such a convincing writer? ![]()

The needle stung only for a brief second and the next thing I knew I was headed to the recoevry room. Put ice on the boys immediately and kept it there throughout the weekend. I went back to work on Monday. It was a little tender for a few days but nothing drastic. The key is to take it easy after the procedure.

| Swingers Board Addict | It was in Octover 1975 that I had mine done.....and never had any regrets! If you think my first wife was happy....the second wife is ecstatic! Okay, here's where I can give advise. Guys, if you and your SO agree, its the absolutely the way to go. As far as discomfort during the proceedure, its like 3-4 seconds on each nut. After that, go home and pack 'em in ice and take a nap. I took the rest of the day off and was at work the next day. I have a story behind that too. I'll save it for another day and a cold beer. Surrender Cheers. facelick

| Swingers Board Addict Join Date: Mar 2004 Posts: 381 Location: Toronto Status: Couple | I had also heard that you should find a Doc that does a lot of these. This was from a friend who had his done by a GP in a small town and still has periodic swelling and pain 16 years after. His first two weeks he was in frozen pea hell. So, I saw a urologist practicing out of one of Toronto's largest hospitals. He uses the scalpel-less tecnique....no big incisions, no stitches., no drama. Google it to find out more. Judy came with me on the big day. We sat with about 5 other guys in a row outside the surgery. (She was the only woman standing by her man.... maybe to make sure that I actually walked through that door... no, actually cause we do almost everything together) Every 15 minutes another Sunkist walked out the door looking relieved. I started to relax a bit.... Well, not that much... here I am laying there covered by a sheet with a hole strategically placed over my privates... which were beating a hasty retreat north. I don't know how they managed to haul my scared boys back out through that hole in the sheet but somehow they got it done. Mr Naughty is right, the needle is the worst part. And the tugging and stuff is a bit creepy. But, 15 minutes later I was walking out the door with only a bandaid one. He prescribed some Tylenol 3 "just in case". I took one as a precaution, but never did really feel pain. That night we went to a party. I was running again in about four days. Never any discomfort at all. Best thing I ever did... now its a pure fun gun... no other purpose but enjoyment. |

| Here to Stay | I have been thinking about getting a vasectomy for years... but have put it off. Seems as though the majority had a what may best described as a favorable experience. I had actually gone to see the urologist, first appointment, but didn't go back to have it done. Not really sure why, ok chickened out. And now after reading some of the posts, especially Spoomonkey's, just thinking about it kind of gives me the willies. But I am sure the peace of mind after all is said and done is probably worth it. Thanks Mr&Mrs-naughty for a great topic! |
