Question Male STD testing question

What exactly does male STD testing entail? My hubby is considering getting tested (has had no reason to before, honestly) and would like to know exactly what happens for the testing. Is it just a blood test or is there more involved? Is it painful?

Thanks!

It's going to depend on which type of testing he is going to have done. Aides is a simple blood test. No biggy. There are other's in which the doctor has to take a swab of the inside of the penis head. It's no picnic, but then again neither is a pap smear for women. suggestion would be to decide exactly what type of testing you feel the need to have done and call a local clinic. You won't have to give your name, you could give a false name and ask some questions. If he feels a need to get tested. Get it done. It's worth it's mind easing weight in gold!! Good luck!!!

depends on what you're looking for.

Sexually tranmitted disease will result when significant exposure to any one of a variety of bacteria or viruses occurs. Disease can be caused by:

syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, gardnerella (bacterial vaginosis, non-specific vaginitis)(which can from nonsexual exposure),chancroid (Hemophilus ducreyi),herpes simplex I and or II, human papiloma virus (warts and, or cellular changes commonly associated with abnormal Pap smear results), human immunodeficiency virus, hepatitis B, trichomonas... and other conditions that are not solely transmitted by sexual acts.

Testing can be done on serum, bodily secretions... or lesions. Most conditions can be treated effectively and resolved. Some can be treated and controlled. Some can be life altering and fatal.

Any competent health care provider can provide details and service. Public health departments are a good resource for those who prefer anonymity.

Don't be shy. Be safe... and happy!
