what is with all the spammers?

Hi have you guys noticed that all of a sudden there are a bunch of 1 time posters putting links at the end of forums? I was just on 3 that the last post was for a link and had nothing to do with the topic?

Yeah, I've noticed it. Hopefully someone will delete them. The good thing is, they are resurrecting (in a few cases) decent threads that shouldn't have died...but not usually.

Yea, with the advent of new automated forum spamming software in the last six months or so we have been getting quite a few. Luckily it has slowed down somewhat, but we are still deleting them as fast as we can. If you see spam you can help us out by reporting the post to us. To do it just click on the "report this post" icon, (the little triangle on the left under the posters user information) and we will get on it ASAP.

It's not all of the sudden, they've been doing it for months. Luckily, we have a great group of moderators here who are very good about catching the spam quickly and removing it. If you see it, it either just got posted or it's a fluke and for some reason none of the mods for that forum have had a chance to get to it yet. While this site gets hit with spammers just like every other one out there, we work very hard to keep it limited and to keep it from being visible to you (for very long). We also appreciate the efforts of everyone who takes the time to hit the "report this post" button on a spam post when they see it to report it to the moderators; doing this will often help us find them much faster. So next time you see one hti the little button the bottom right under the username that looks like a caution sign with an exclamation point and report the post.

But still - I wish they would.

I am going to create a bot that can read, get its feelings hurt and then have it's ass kicked on one of those fighting robot shows... That'd be sweet!
