Sex Swing Installation

I have a question about installation of a sex swing. I would rather not use an eye bolt directly into the rafters so I have done some reinforcement. I have taken a 2x8x8 and ran it across 4 rafters. On top of this I have put another 2x6x8. This should even the weight out along 4 rafters. I want to put an eye bolt through the ceiling and the boards that I have installed. I was at Lowes and all the eye bolts they had said that the load limit was about 200 lbs. If we are on it together we will exceed this weight. Where can I get an 8" eye bolt that will support about 300+ lbs total?

I plan to hide the bolt with a cover from an old smoke detector.

Go to a local fastener company. You can find them in the yellow pages. look for a welded eye, not a closed eye, in 1/2". You may have to get a short piece of threaded rod and a rod coupling to extend the eye bolt through the boards.

I'll give a ditto to divenaked's suggestion.

Fastenal is a national chain that specializes in such stuff, and their website lists about 40 stores in your state. That would be a good place to start.

A secondary option is Tractor Supply Co. They have a decent selection of such items, and also have quite a few locations in your state.
