We now have a Colonial reproduction pencil post bed that is high off the floor as many 1800's beds were and want something like it as a replacement. We particularly enjoy the height since certain positions are much more fun if it's about waist high. Plus we store our toys under the bed and need a lot of room. Sooo... we went bed shopping. Obviously, the thickness of the mattress has something to do with it, but we wanted to make sure that any new bed was at least as high at the box springs level. So, we measured each of the beds that we were interested in. We think the first salesman probably guessed why we were checking, but he was smart enough to not ask questions. The second missed by a mile. She asked why we were checking and then suggested her own answer, "Oh, you're worried about the dust ruffle." My wife and I exchanged conspiratorial glances and tried to stifle ourselves. It was all I the male could do to not ask "What the devil is a dust ruffle?" But the lady was already busy helping us and checking the measurement. It's a good thing she didn't notice us checking the diameter of the posts to make sure our bondage straps would fit! ![]() So beware. If yall go bed shopping you better make sure you've got your story straight. Especially if you want an old-fashioned canopy and a Passion Swing over the bed. |

It doesn't have posts though perhaps they could be added.I think it would look better with a dust ruffle. ![]() |

And it holds 2000 lbs. I'd guess it would be a hit at a house party!! ![]() | |

Found this sight.http://www.instructables.com/id/EZ5X...369F/?ALLSTEPS I suppose you could add more pipes and hardware to turn it into junglegym playground. You can call it functional, but not pretty. |
