Good, Sexy Bras for Larger Ladies

As the summer heats up, I am noticing all these cute little tops that have built in bras, easy on-off access, and perfect for club wear.

Just not in my size. I am a 40 DDD on the verge of E and nothing, nothing I have ever tried other than the Playtex 18-hour gives support. I can find nice things occassionally at Lane Bryant, as Victorias Secret no longer carries anything above a 38 DD. So a pretty bra and panties set isn't an issue. The issue is cute halters and tanks with some support and trend.

Going bra-less is never an option for me. I have reached the age where it just kills my back.

I have to have some support.

There has to be other women out there with this issue. Please post links and opinions of what you have tried! Surrender

I too have the same problem. I am a 42DD and love those tops with the built in bras, but without a real bra - they look like hell on me. What I do is wear one of the convertable bras from Lane Bryant - take the straps off and wear it as a strapless underneath the shirt. That way I have the support I need, but still can wear the cute top. Hope this helps!!!!

Oh yeah - I also find read cute bras at the Avenue also. Also - I have had a few great buys on Lane Bryant and Avenue bras (brand new too!!!!) on Ebay. I confess, I am an Ebay addict, but have found alot of cute bras that fit on there. I am pissed at Victoria's Secret for catering to the "smaller" crowd LOL.

I have the same issue 42 DD is hard to find a cute Tank in but I have noticed that if I get a "built in" bra tank and just alter the straps abit I get the tank and the lift in one

I think wearing a strapless bra underneath is a good idea. I have to do that with some of the cute little halters they have out now too. Not because my breasts are too big but because they're too small and don't fill out the top like their supposed too.

Im a 42 D. I have a couple tank tops that have the built in bra that doesnt work.. So being me I dont care what be think I still where my bra with it. So some one see my straps.. LOL It could be a bikini top.. At least a bra covers more

I can't relate, I can't wear a lot of tops because I don't fill them out. But what I wanted to tell you what a friend of mine did to make her bras cuter. She could never find cute bras that fit her so she took a couple of plain bras and embellished them. The only bra I saw is one where she hand sewed small daisy appliques from where the strap meets all the way across the top outlining the main part of the bra with daisies. It was just adorable! There are so many different kinds of embellishments that can be applied to a bra, all you need is a craft store nearby and a vivid imagination.

A year ago at a quilt festival they had an exhibition of embellished bras and some of them were really neat to see. They weren't anything I would actually wear but they could be inspiring. HERE is the exhibition of bras I saw. The one with the appliqued butterflies is my favorite.

I have the same issue being a 40 d. I too sometimes find cute stuff at lane bryant and fredricks of hollywood and strapless or shelf bra isnt an option ill just bounce right out!. The best thing ive found so far was at fashion bug. It was a bra with clear straps so that most of the time it looks like nothings there or at least you feel like it.

Sounds like the bra from Lane Bryant I was talking about - it comes with colored straps and clear ones or you can just take them off for the strapless look. Hmmmm - I might need to take a trip to Fashion Bug and check theirs out. And I thought the same thing about "bouncing" out. The Lane Bryant bra doesn't give me those problems for some reason. I think its because of the the "grip strip" around the top and bottom of the bra.

I'm a supporter of big boobs. For only the cost of meals, I will follow along behind you and hold your boobs up for you for as long as needed.

I will also do this for small busted women also. I don't discriminate. lol

Another thing you could do is dying your own. My mom and sister just took a couple fabric dying classes at a local quilt shop a few weeks ago. One really had beautiful results called low immersion dying. It just so happened they tried to make their own bra and panty sets using cotton bras and undies and they were awesome! After seeing them I'm going to try making them myself. The dye is set with soda ash for color fastness so it won't fade any faster than any other dyed cotton fabric you could buy.

I did attempt to search for some neat bras I could embellish, however, my search was not successful.

I did find some really neat fringe online that are little silver people screwing. I thought it would be cool to embellish the top of a black bra with.

I have a question for you tho, since you are so knowledgable in sewing-

Is it possible to have tops with built in bras custom made? Are there patterns and fabrics available for such things? If yes, do you know where I might find them? I search the McCalls catalogues and no luck.

I am most intersted in finding a pattern for a halter top that would tie around my neck and be open in the back. I found some fabric that I think might work.
