OUCH! Could've been bad! - Electric Toys gone Bad

Ok...hubby and I had an experience last night I thought I would share as sort of a warning to others.....although I'm sure no one on this board is as stupid as I feel right now....

Hubby and I were in the bedroom, doin' our "thing", he was behind me and inside, I was on my stomach with a vibrator between my legs. (It's an electric/plug in kind). All of the sudden, I feel something bite me!

But, not wanting to ruin the moment, I say nothing. Then again, I feel something "biting" me again. This goes on for a bit...finally I'm getting really uncomfortable and I'm wondering if it's a spider or perhaps just something poking me from the bed. Finally.....I can't take it anymore!!! I jump up and yell that something is biting me! (Thinking on it now, I'm giggling...I mean, you should have seen the look on my hubby's face!!

)
Long story short.....somehow the cord was deteriating and the wire was showing through. It almost looked as though someone had been biting it and the wire was giving me tiny electric shocks. My stomach was covered in tiny welts.......but thankfully it wasn't worse.......could you imagine your pootie getting burned?!

Anyways....I just thought this was strange....the toy is only a year old and it doesn't seem that it should be ruined so fast...and something worse could've happened. SO ladies...check your toys for anything unusual...loose wires, wires showing through, leaky batteries, sharp things.....etc. I know I never thought to check my toys before, but I sure do now!

Well, I heard of a cat bitting the wire of one of this toys while being used. From the way it was being used, for the cat it should look like a funny snake struggling, and it was too much temptation for him.

As far as I know, this cat didn't dare to get into the bedroom anymore since then.

That would have been a lot worse in this country, with the 240v mains power....

Definitely a case of checking over the equipment before use

That would be 120v in the US, it still could be bad though.

Oh, the cat episode was in the USA, of course!

Here, with 220v, no would be able to open the cat jaws to take out the wire.

Oh yes this has happened. Like you at first I couldn't figure out what it was but after the 3rd little nip I stopped him. Turned out the toy had a fault in it and was giving off little shocks. Glad to hear things were not too serious for you and hope your partner kissed it all better.

Thanks to all you well wishers.....everything ended up okay (and he did kiss and make it better tehee) I just had never thought to check the wires before....but I guess it goes without saying that when you're playing with anything electrical, you've got to be careful. I wonder how often this has happened in the middle of a fun evening...I can think of some funny senerios as well as some serious ones. Has anyone had any mishaps or funny (or serious) things happen in the middle of play as a result of a toy? Would be interesting to hear some stories.

gosh, well, a good reminder of why we don't use plug in toys. It's bad enough we have a kitten who just loves to chew wires on the computer.
