| Here to Stay | Just being accurate, Viagara, Cialis, etc. do NOT increase libido. They increase the sexual response of existing sexual arousal but to NOT create or enhance the arousal itself. In other words, they don't get you aroused they let your body respond to arousal. The equivalents of Viagra are drugs that increase or substitute for vaginal lubrication like premarin or other hormomes for post-menopausal women or all the assorted lubes. What it sounds like you're asking for is NOT a viagra equivalent but some sort of aphrodesiac which doesn't exist for either sex. |

| Swingers Board Addict Join Date: Oct 2005 Posts: 170 Location: new york | My wife and I are in our early 50's. Several years ago she exhibited no to little desire to engage in any sexual activity. I thought that this was just part of the aging process and took it at that. I did alot of research on the web and discovered that there are many women of all ages who have FSAD a sexual dysfunction that occurs in about 43% of women of all ages. Female Sexual Arousal Dysfunction is classified in DSM IV as a recognizable behavioral disorder where the woman exhibits a persistent lack of sexual desire or appetite. The drug companies came up with a drug about a year ago that was touted on all the news reports as the "woman's viagra". The FDA refused to grant licensing because there was a chance of serious medical side effects (hypertension?). This drug (the name escapes me for the moment) did work on restoring some hormonal imbalances that would have increased the woman's libido and the desire to engage in sexual activity. I did learn that any other products being sold as 'women's viagra" were not effective and not covered under the FDA. I am grateful to this web site because it has given me insight as to a possible way for the Mrs. to get interested in sex again. We have booked a vacation to Desires, a clothing optional resort for adult couples only. I was shocked that she agreed to go so maybe the advice I received from this forum will put the spice back in her life. also I was very glad to read that there are many 'normal' men out their who just want to see their wives enjoy sex and if that means sharing her with another guy at the same time then so be it. |

| Mod Squad Member | I believe the drug Celtic was speaking of is called Intrinsa and is made by Proctor and Gamble. It is a testosterone patch marketed to women. The FDA rejected the drug for women on December 2, 2004 due to lack of studies on side effects. Google Intrinsa and you will find alot of information on it.

It is a synthetic aphrodisiac. Unlike Viagra and other related medications, it does not act upon the vascular system, but directly increases sexual desire. Bremelanotide is a spray introduced nasally. Originally, the peptide Melanotan II that bremelanotide was developed from was tested as a sunless tanning agent. In initial testing, Melanotan II did induce tanning but additionally caused sexual arousal and spontaneous erections as unexpected side effects in eight out of the ten original male volunteer test subjects. In clinical studies, bremelanotide has been shown to be effective in treating male sexual and erectile dysfunction as well as female sexual dysfunction. It is currently being tested by Palatin Technologies. Bremelanotide is a cyclic hepta-peptide lactam analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH) that activates the melanocortin receptors MC3-R and MC4-R in the central nervous system. It has the amino acid sequence Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-OH or cyclo-[Nle4, Asp5, D-Phe7, Lys10]alpha-MSH-(4-10). PT-141 is a metabolite of Melanotan II that lacks the C-terminal amide function. Its molecular forumla is C50H68N14O10 with a molecular weight of 1025.2. In the United States it is currently in a Phase III clinical trial. |

Just add a .com to get to their website. Sounds like a cream or something that you use. It sort of makes me think of the stuff you get from a sex toy party that you pay like 15.00 for a small packet, that makes the female clit more sensitive and it warms up. |
