Do you name your toys?

I was never one to name my dolls or teddy bears as a kid and it has carried over to adulthood. My bf, on the other hand, names his cars and his computers (and I don't know what else). When I got my laptop several months ago he said I should name it, so it did. It is Sam. The only reason that I remember Sam's name is because it shows up on the network and reminds me. I named my car... but I can't remember what I named it. I named my Unix server but I can't remember what I named it.

DO you name your toys? Your cars? Your computers? Does naming them give them so added connection to you?

Somehow this struck me as really funny...I have this image in my head of Julie, 8-10 years down the road with little Julie at the playground...all the moms sitting around talking, and Julie calling out, "Hey! What's your name! Be careful!"

Now...to answer the question...no I don't name my possessions. However, I do assign them a sex. Some are he's and some are she's. I haven't any idea how I come up with their sex assignment...it just seems to work. My car is a guy. Certain plants are guys, others are girls. My computer is an "it" because we don't always get along.

Now that I think about it, I might have a bunch of transvestites or something in there as a result of my sexual assignments. Some boys living in girl bodies, and some girls living in boy bodies.

Hot dog! Now I have something to do for the rest of the day. I can go talk to my car and find out if he likes being a boy. - EBF

OMG...bustin up here! We dont name stuff but they are girls or boys..my cars are girls since ya never know what kinda mood they will be in. the boats are girls,come to think of it most of our stuff i call she..lol. and my hubby has a springfield 1911 that he calls his girlfriend. I joke around and say she is my only compatition for his attention..lol

and I agree with EBF..i can see julie doing that..lol

well that could be fun....mine is a little red jeep wrangler...she is a cutie but a little on the boyish side. I dont like girly cars..lol tell him we would have to be chaperones though...i dont trust her out alone yet..lol

Hey, hey, hey...my car is a little BRIGHT RED Honda SI...just think, we could wind up as grandparents to little red ones running all around. I know what you mean by chaperones...mine's fiesty...that's the reason he has to visit the police department on occasions....goes off and gets himself in trouble and I have to go bail him out.

We don't give names to anything or assign a gender to them either.

We call all of our vehicles "trucks"...but they're really an SUV and a van...does that count?

We tend to call things by their description rather than a name.
Some of our toys we'll call the "blue jelly thingy" or the "hard purple one" or "the thing that vibrates" or "the really cool one".

The computers are "laptops" or "the PC".

Wow. We're boring.

Oh yeah, and we named our boat "Naughty Girl". We have it on the Back of the boat.

We don't name our stuff either.

But I have a male Jeep Larado and Mrs. GT has a female Honda Civic (I think the civic is bi). They are always looking for other cars to play with but they are a couple so they only play together. If interested send "G" rated picture of car.

Before I opened this thread I thought it was associated with the "where do you keep your toys" thread. So I was sitting there wondering if I had ever given any of my dildos or vibrators a name and no, I haven't...and I though maybe I should And here all this time you're talking about your other adult toys... of which I've never named any of them either....
