Default swinging and religion

I would do this as a poll if I knew how (help anyone?).

How do people in this lifestyle feel about religion and christianity?

Can you be in this lifestyle and still consider yourself a christian?

This is one topic that really does not seem to be talked about much. Is this one of those "hot" subjects similar to politics that everybody just stays away from?

That all depends on how seriously you take your religion. Anyone can call themselves a Christian; it's a word like any other word out there. Heck, people on death row call themselves "Christians". My wife and I go to church. We believe in God and the Bible. Yet we are actively engaged in the lifestyle. But I don't preach my purity to people and put on a false front about who I am or what we do behind closed doors. It's simply not anyone's business but mine. I am not perfect; Jesus was. I can't stand people who preach to others about being good Christian people yet they're the first ones to have road rage, commit adultery, and do other things that are forbidden by the commandments. They are hypocrites, plain and simple. If you want to swing, and both you and your S/O find it stimulating and enjoy it, I say GO FOR IT. That doesn't mean you can't still believe in what you believe in. And it also doesn't mean you can't live a clean and pure life. We don't do drugs, and we have a very happy family unit. We love each other and our children. The only thing we do is have a little fun with sex! I know "Christians" who do drugs, are spouse abusers, and toss their kids aside like old clothes. I don't know about you, but I think our way of living (even with our naughty side) is more Christian than theirs. Unless you want to be a preacher, then I say you need to occupy your sexual lifestyle in some other manner.

Default When were the rules made?

If one looks back at the period of time when most of the fundamental rules of religion were created, it explains a great deal.

The idea of only a wife could have sex with her husband is based on property ownership. The first son of the husband inherits the father's property upon the father's death. If a woman were to concieve a child with another man, it could call into question who rightfully inherits the property. At some point in time, nearly every religion promoted polygamy.

In another facit, religious rules were meant to control the masses. The leaders developed a moral code of conduct that the society had to live by. In order to enforce such a conduct, there had to be ramifications for disobeying. Enter Fire and Brimestone

If the basic fundamentals were extracted from most mainstream religions you'd get something along the lines of Don't kill, don't steal, and help others.

Here endeth the lesson - CMorgan89, Chapter 1, Verses 1 thru 69.

Not true, more like "Try to impose your world view on everyone, if you can't, kill them." At least that goes for the monotheists.

In my opinion, your faith is inside your mind, not in any book, building or symbol. Only you can know who you are and what you are.

Several members of my family are strict Christians and live the lives taught by their churches. Sometimes they attempt to convince me to join their fold, but I simply tell them that while I share their belief in a Higher Power, I don't share the belief in their doctrine.

Over the years, I've had some real knock-down, drag-out battles with certain churches and their followers. I respect their beliefs and would never support anti-Christian activity, but sometimes they go where they have no business going.

I don't pretend to know the answers of the universe, but I can't watch a hummingbird visit a flower, feel the love my dogs lavish on me when I come home, or enjoy a summer sunset after a rain without feeling humble and unknowing. Somehow I can't believe the universe is a random joining of atomic particles as the result of a big bang. Even if it was, who/what lit the fuse?

I didn't mean to bore you with stories of my faith, but thought it might help you understand my rationale.

If your church tells you that swinging is wrong, but you don't believe it is, in my opinion, you're wasting your time in the church and living a lie. You're only asking for frustration if you want to be in the church while you flaunt it's doctrine.

If you swing, but believe it is wrong and wish to stop, the church might be a source of support and fellowship.

As I said, I believe a person's faith is in their own mind. In my mind, what consenting adults do for pleasure is their own business and neither church nor government should be concerned.

We are Christians too....attending church regularly, giving money, praying christians. Heck, we even have a birthday party for Jesus every year!!! And yes, we swing too.

It also says in the bible that the marriage bed is not defiled...now like everything else in the bible, it is open to interpretation and we read that as long as everyone is in agreement and knows what is going on, then it's ok. Adultery is another issue and is wrong

just our $.02

I agree with you 100% that is the historical value of religion on world history. I was only attempting to poke holes in the hull of religion - and then stand back and watch the ship take on water as those who are responsible for blindly bailing water take a moment and look at the big picture...
