What is your preferred method of meeting new playmates?

We use a combination of online ads and local clubs. Although really we use the online ad site more to see who is going to be at the clubs and then will contact people ahead of time if they look interesting. It makes it a lot easier to go up to them and say "hey we talked to you online" and gives you a starting place. We have yet to actually set up a meeting with a couple we've talked to online only (and not met at a club). Although, we do use the ad sites to communicate after we meet and set up second (or third or fourth, etc) meetings.

We're club people. We still have an ad up, mostly because it's a lifetime membership, and we keep up with friends on it a bit, but we really prefer to meet at a club setting. Less BS, and if we aren't a good match, they have other opportunities available.

Didn't reread the thread, but I think others have mentioned doing what we do, which is letting those that contact us online know they can meet us at the club if they'd like.

When we came back from the break we used online ads for awhile with limited success. We've since met a few couples online that have invited us into their "circle" of friends and we mostly mingle amongst them at house parties these days. Next one is Sat. night so hopefully we'll have something to put in the good experiences thread.

There is a new couple we've been conversing with who seem very reluctant to meet at a club, still too overwhelming an idea for them, even though I've tried to explain 10 times that it's nothing to be scared of. It looks like we'll meet them somewhere vanilla which we're fine with as well.

I think we prefer clubs/parties simply because there is so much activity in the air that it makes it easier, for us anyway, to keep interesting conversations going.

I'd have to vote for online.
I've only been to one club(in IL)..and I did meet a couple there.
..and I met a woman at a meet-n-greet for a Yahoo Group(she was the one who took me to the swing club).

Other than those afore mentioned folks everyone else was met online.

Me and the Mrs tend to want to meet people at clubs. Reason being, we've had a few instances of meeting people one on one after emailing back and forth. And it was just there was no chemistry. One couple actually when asked, "What do you do for fun?," responded with "sleep." So that was not a good situation to be in, because it appeared that we had nothing in common. Oh and did I mention she was pregnant. However, we have had a few other dinners that were a waste of time sitting through dinner. IMO it is easier to gauge chemistry at a club. If it doesn't work out with some people you meet, it is easier to keep moving through the crowd to other people.

I think we're finding the club to be our favorite way to meet people. Initially, we thought we wanted to find "friends" first - but we've found that after meeting for drinks once, and then trying to set another meeting, weeks can go by with different schedule issues.

But at the club, we've already met a lot of couples that we get along with, enjoy dancing with, and I think just the sexier atmosphere of a club with the music and dancing puts us in a sexier mood.

We chose on-line ads, that is how we have met the majority of the people we have played with, however we have met others at house parties also. Getting ready to test the waters of the clubs!

I said friends because the clubs are hard to get into for me an the wife wants me to know anybody we meet with. Thats because of bad try ten years ago.
