How Old are you?

I have this poll running elsewhere and have also done it in the past. Seems "swingers" are getting older so I am trying to update my data.

I know this is a question that I am not supposed to "ask the ladies" but since this is not tracking "who" you are, just your answer I wanted to do a poll about how old the avg. person in the lifestyle is. This is for both men and women.
Lets be truthful here since it is not tracking you please.

We are unable to answer this poll as it is, since Mr. O and I share a 15 year age difference. We don't fit in the catagories.

I had asked Julie if an "age" poll had been done and I searched but could not find the old ones.

I now have looked at the info from your poll from last year also. I looks like to me that you where asking the age/age group of the couples.

I am just trying to collect data on each person's age.

I see that many couples on this board use the same screen name so the way I set up the poll only one is able to input their info. Next time I will do it differently because of this.

One answer is better then no answer.

I checked out one of the larger sites we belong to, and did a sample of those within a 700 mile radius of us. I did not exclude any types (i.e. Single males, Single Females, and couples were included). I realize that this may have an error rate based on what OhioCouple's situation is with the age differences, but I believe that the statistical significance is probably less than 3 percent.

The stats:

Those within 20-29: 13.477%
Those within 30-39: 42.323%
Those within 40-49: 35.447%
Those within 50-70: 8.753%

Just thought I'd add some perspective....

This is an interesting poll...to me for one I've been noticing an increase in younger couples....married or just b/f & g/f going online with ads and into chat rooms...not so much on the message boards.

By younger I mean 18, 19 and into their early to mid 20's....also see many young men - same age group - posting ads on swinger sites saying they want to meet with couples.

I'll be watching this poll and yes I've responded. Mr will do so under his own nick here

We agree with yawanna - although the swinging population in general IS getting older, simply because many of us have been in the lifestyle for quite some time, there seems to be a recent influx of younger couples and singles becoming interested in the lifestyle.
Perhaps the younger generation joining us in the lifestyle can be attributed to those of us that have been in the lifestyle for some time - we are now the group that runs many businesses and hold positions of authority... and have impressed upon others that it is OK to try this lifestyle. I think that those of us that are tail-end baby boomers (born 1964 & prior) and those born into the mid 70s have had a "try it, you'll like it" attitude that has been passed on to the next generation. I am sure that all would agree that it is MUCH more likely that a girl of 18 has tried bi sex now that it was 20 years ago. And the same can probably be said for guys, too - 20 years ago, trying bi was a death sentence, at least socially. Today, it seems the cool thing to do.
And don't feel bad about being a numbers guy, Lee... I have the same affliction - I am ALWAYS looking at how the numbers stack up, even if it is on a subject that holds no interest to me! Damn Pythagorus! Damn Newton! LOL.

I don't really see how this poll can really give you any useful data as it basically speaks for a single person that is 21 years of age or older.

Only speaking on behalf of this site, the vast majority are couples, use only one screen name, can only vote on one age group which can be extremely varied if one happens to be 23 and the other 27... etc. No inclusion for the adults in the 18-20 age group. How can one vote be better than none when both may not fit in the same catagory and there is no count for other legal adults? At best the margin for error is going to be extremely high and surely not the data that you are hoping to achieve.

I'll admit to only giving it a quick scan (gotta get outside and get the lights down before football today!), but I'll say that this has to be one of the most 'swinging positive' articles I've seen in the mainstream press in a long while. There were few snickering or snide comments that I noticed, just fair and balanced (OK, now I'll get sued by Fox! ) writing about the 'scene'.

We try to keep the poll the same on all sites we run it on and each time we run it. We did this 2 years ago, and 4 years ago to see how things change.

We are not looking for the ages of couples, just each person. I did see that after I set it up and started talking to more people in this site that the couples here tend to use the same name rather then having their own so it makes it so only one can respond to the poll.

The reason that we started a few years ago of not including the 18 to 20 year olds is that many/most clubs and events request/require that people be 21 or older to be part of them.

This poll 4 years ago was started to provide information to clubs that we deal with across the country.

On all the boards on the net that we are currently running this poll, this group so far is the youngest and also has more couples using the same screen name then any other board.

I may have to consider redoing this poll in the future in a different way so that it fits this board better.

We do not track the "people" that answer these polls but we do track where the polls are posted. We also take polls at clubs and at lifestyle conventions in person. We do other polls besides the "age" each year also. We are finding that attitudes - play habits change in time and as the "group" gets older.

Most of the age polls we currently are running will end at the end of this month. Once they do I will post the info from the other ones here also for everyone to see once they are compiled.

So once you get all this data compiled, are you going to offer your opinions related to the variations in the age groups? Or do you have an opinion already? I've wondered, myself. - EBF

I do not tend to make opinions to much on data that I collect. I compile it and offer it out in it's raw form. I do use some of it to write atricals but only as facts of findings more then my own personal opinion.

At this point I don't have any opinion why this board is running a younger group and to be honest, not sure I could ever figure that one out.

Since I run polls and collect different information all the time only time shall tell.
