| Here to Stay | Mrs is Aquarian, Mr is a Pisces... it's fun to revive this thread! I am somewhat of an amateur astrologist, spending the last 2 years studying charts and symbology and reading many books on aspects, etc. As for being no different than Hominids, well, it is true we aren't much different, but... There is one thing we know thanks to science, and that is where the Sun, Moon and Stars (Planets, the closest "stars") were and are from one year to year. It's calculable. That's the Astronomy of it. Whether you believe humans live in tune with nature (or purposely out of it sometimes!) and that our physiology can be affected by the vibrations, magnetics, energies of space... think about Full Moon behavior, it's not a joke... if you can accept that the human body can be affected as much as the earth's sea "body" by changes in geo-magenetic waves, then you are not far off from adopting an astrologists' view. It then becomes an issue of calculable evidence of oberseved, behavioral changes recorded at times of certain planetary placements... which has been done for at least 5,000 years and is called Astrology, LOL Back on topic... VeryChaotic back in May mentioned being surprised there weren't more Aquarians, and of course the bit about Scorpions... I wanted to add that there is very vital info missing from the usual "horoscopes" we get in the paper today. In original astrology, it was very incomplete to forecast for someone based only on the Sun sign--this is what everyone is referring to-- because there is also the Rising Sign/Ascendant and the Moon Sign. These are vital... for instance, have you ever met someone who was one sign, but seemed like another? Or that someone who fits their sun sign to a T? Your Sun sign is associated with your purpose in life, what you are meant to live out or up to... Your Ascendant or Rising sign is the one that was located on the eastern horizon as you were being born, and is the way that others see you... mine is Leo, the Lioness.... and the Moon sign, which is what constellation/part of the sky under which the Moon sat as you were born. Mama Moon governs our subconscious, our deepest emotions/fears & attachments, our love and feelings... and mine is the most turbulent of all the water signs, Scorpio... I have very, very powerful feelings that I have had to take many years to learn to deal with. While I have an airy, idealist Sun Sign, my Moon sign (and it's natural home placement of the 4th house in my chart) is much more powerful than my Sun; couple it with my Firey outwardness (the Lioness) and despite my eccentricity, and airy idealism it becomes hard to believe I am an Aquarian humanitarian! So the thought I had was that I bet we would see more Scorpios come out in Rising and Moon signs if we did another poll (if that's possible)? It is possible... Scorpios are often very sexual. For the sake of curiosity, for the last 16 months the Mr. has been under a Uranus conjunct Venus aspect which applies the principles of rebellion, eccentricity, and breaking old, dead patterns to love and relationships... it was literally predicted that people find new means of sexual expression under this influence and some even end up in open marriages/relationships... it was indeed the Mr. who initiated! Another interesting tidbit to add; combined charts can also be quite telling; ours is quite a site, maybe I'll post it here later... if anyone wants to be a guinea pig, send me your birth dates, times and locations and I'll try and guess and few things about your relationship! | Active Member | Well, I (Matt) am a Virgo and Sarah is on the cusp of Scorpio on the cusp of Libra (Oct 23rd). We personnally don't buy into the whole astrology mumbo-jumbo, and are more intrigued by the chinese astrology. By the chinese calendars, I would be a Tiger from the element of Wood (heh heh, my tiger's got wood ), while Sarah is born under the sign of the Fire Dragon. We've read quite a bit on both subjects, and find that a lot of western astrology is very ambiguous. To quote Weird Al's astrology song: "Tomorrow you'll wake up and do a bunch of stuff and then go back to sleep. That's your horoscope for today!" Statements like "there's travel in your future" and "You'll meet a strange man" are way too general. Now, if my horoscope said "A blue 1984 Buick will hit the drivers door of your red mustang in the Albertson's parking lot the next time you shop there", and then it HAPPENED... I might start to believe it. ![]() I've found that, as far as signs go, the chinese signs have been much more accurate at describing the personalities of my friends and I. That's just me. Do you really believe we still have to create more things to worry about, like astrology, just because of filling our bigger brains void? Do we both live in the same world? Now, back to the topic, I answered the poll, and checked so far how close you gessing was to the survey, Ouch! It's hard for me to believe you can clasify people behavior trendsets in just 12 classes, and less to correlate these 12 classes with the sky (nor 144 if you rely con combinations). Moreover, the entire way to look at the sky and to explain the movement of these shinny things up there already changed, and such a change didn't correlated into the astrology. Mmmmmmmm. No, I don't think so. | |

We are as dynamic as the moving planets, and I can't say I DON"T believe the energies of space can't effect gravitational tensions. I see it as anopther form of mythology, with a lot of excellent insights into the psyche. But, as with anything, you don't have to believe it, per se, but you can consider an issue in your life in a new light, and change your direction. Ultimately it is an excellent tool for growth. And if you stop growing, you die... |

"Spiritual" humans (ritual graves) date to 75-50,000 years ago. Art dates about 40-30,000 years past, depending on how you define art. Modern humans (farmers) 15-20,000 years ago, (grass, ie. grains). Civilization, (cities) 10,000 years ago. Science, (Egyptian, Chinese, Minoan and Greek, among others) began about 5,000 years ago. Modern science, about 400 years ago (the enlightenment), followed by the explosion of population. Why are horoscopes important to any thinking person? Like religion, they date back to ancient times, before we learned that effects have causes, despite the whims of mythical beings or the positions of astronomical objects. I'm a Libra, BTW, and my lady is an Aries. LOL. Last edited by R4DElec : 04-28-2006 at 05:51 AM. |

| Swingers Board Addict Join Date: May 2006 Posts: 907 Location: Mississauga, ON Canada Status: couple | Leo (July 22-Aug. 22) "Better sex" books are light-years behind your innovations. You do things in bed that approach a mystical level of ecstasy. Problem is, you're so busy perfecting that there's little left for your bedmate to do, and they end up functioning like a male ballet dancer: you pirouette furiously while they just hold up your leg. This week, delegate tasks to others. They may not do it exactly the way you do, but the shared experience will lead to a more mutually pleasurable orgasm. Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 21) Your personal life has been characterized by a cavalier attitude lately. This will catch up with you this week. You look great and you've had great success, but don't be like that character in every single fairy tale who, blessed with luck, overdoes it and ends up unable to touch people because they'll turn to gold. Indeed, touching people will be a pertinent aspect of all your activities. Use your luck to find people to reach out and grab. Libra (Sept. 22-Oct. 22) It's hard to imagine now, but people used to just let their body hair grow and grow. Sex meant puffy mountains of curly-q's all intertwining with each other. You're in a noninterventionist mood this week, feeling groovy and laissez-faire. Let things take their natural course instead of trying to redirect them, and you'll find yourself entangled with someone on the sun-bleached deck of a pleasurecraft. Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) Your iconoclastic nature will cause you distress this week. All of your carefully laid plans will be thwarted by others who think, in your opinion, far too conventionally. Yes, it would have been fun to manually pleasure them during M:I-3, but remember that these individuals have feelings and boundaries that must be respected. Instead of relying on others to help fulfill your goals, take responsibility for your own happiness by playing with yourself while watching M:I-3 instead. Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) On the subway today, a fellow raced in front of me and took the seat I was headed for. I subsequently noted that he was reading Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead. Beware rugged individualists this week. They seem charming, daring and free-spirited at first blush, but they eventually end up being bitter and shrill like Bill Maher. Besides, the group thing is so much more gratifying. Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) Tie a bandana around your neck and strap on your holsters: you're a cowboy this week! You'll prefer to work alone, mending an entire fence by yourself under the scorching sun. There'll be no one to notice your efforts, but you won't mind — such need for positive reinforcement is for those less sure of themselves. This doesn't mean you won't get powerful lonesome, however, so ride into town once in a while and pay a visit to Miss Kitty. Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18) You're like a cheerleader this week, full of energy and spunk. Just keep in mind that every cheerleader must honor the principle of teamwork. You want to be the one at the top of the pyramid, but cheerleading squads, like orgies, should be without hierarchy. Practice egalitarianism and you'll find you're presented with far more sexual prospects than when you limit yourself to only VIPs. Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20) You'll feel emboldened by all your accomplishments this week. Everyone's pleased with your work, and it seems you can do no wrong. Just don't let this veneration go to your head. If you can keep your ego under control, you'll be able to parlay your success into limitless sexual gratification. Aries (Mar. 21-Apr. 19) You're restless this week, but try to focus. Squirming in your seat is useless, but squirming around on a pile of attractive people is quite productive. You can make this scenario happen by combining the laser-like sharpness of your concentration with the spiraling, chaotic energy of your libido.[/quote]

| Where's the party! | I haven't done ALL the research on the subject but I seem to recall that the "science" of astrology is based on the idea that the Earth is the center of the universe and everything else revolves around us. Starting from that basis I can't see astrology as anything other than a game for our amusement.
