I guess I was considered kind of odd, kind of funny, not too popular. A cross between a slacker and a geek.
I still feel that way sometimes, though I'm quite succesful and respected in my job, so that helps. But I'm a little insecure. And a bit of a "pleaser" who wants people to like him. Although I've never really worried about being cool or fitting in. I don't try to prove myself as a tough guy, or try to be trendy.
But I told my wife, when I was in High School, I thought I'd be a virgin forever. Now I have a sweetie who actually WANTS me! And thinks I'm cute! Wow!
OK, get out of my head. Although I was not a virgin. Actually i dated a lot, but only got serious later. My school until 11 grade was huge and we definitely could smoke a lot ( funny smokes) . 1700 in my graduating class. ( I actually met someone in the Navy from my class I had never met before) I played at soccer ( not very well) and was in AP classes, although never did the homework, just passed the tests.

Then, 2 weeks before my senior year, my father was transfered at work to Roanoke Va. I was then known as the resident yankee. Everyone knew me, and not always in a good way. I was definitely on the outside looking in.

The mrs hmr was the definite goody two shoes "A" plus student ( who's who of HS students) . Never would do anything to dissapppoint her parents. Even ten years after we married would worry " what dad would think" if we did something different in our bedroom. Dressed like the proverbial librarian.

Both are different now. mr owns his own contracting business (hmr- it does not stand for "Homer" or "Hummer") . And mrs hit 40 ( a while ago) and decided it only matters what she thinks now, Boy has she changed!!

Wow, what an introspective thread

I was a band nerd. I was on the flag squad and LIVED for marching band season. I can still twirl a flag like nobodys' business, lol. I had almost no friends, and pretty much kept to myself. And yet, I loved being on stage (drama class, senior choir, show choir), so it wasn't a matter of me being shy. I just didn't fit in anywhere.

And for the record, band camp was NOTHING like it was described in American Pie. Then again, it could've been and I was just left out of it all . . .

Mr. Sweet was in a graduating class of 31, and didn't fit in too well, either. He was a teacher's pet, if anything.

Now we have lots of lovely friends and our former classmates would drop their jaws if they knew what we're up to now.

I'm there with you!

Was a total band geek...flag corps for marching season and percussion, pep band, and various ensembles the rest of the year. I can still rock it on my flag and rifle.

But, I did go to a small rural school in Ohio...so everyone knew everyone. I got on well with most people in my class. Some I didn't want to associate with, mostly the stoner/slacker crowd because I just wasn't into that scene.

Jeff was a band geek, and some combination of party boy/stoner...after listening to some of his stories, while entertaining, he was precisely the kind of guy I avoided in h.s. Thank God he's grown up. lmao

I know this is an old thread, but I got a good chuckle out of it.

Bah. I voted metalhead, but should have picked "other." I hated being limited to any particular area, adopting the "specialization is for insects" approach to life. It's worked out pretty well I guess, but it's seen me shift quite a bit over time. Like Spoomonkey, I was a chameleon (and still am).

Read it from an on-line profiles today. The couple have written into their profile that that have no interest in meeting "pure rednecks". Now this description left me scratching my head. So I thought I would ask the good people of The Swingersboard. What exactly would a "pure" redneck be?

If their gene pool is a quarter of a dixie cup, I'd say they're a TRUE redneck .. .

=)

Hmmm... I was pretty bad in High School... I guess I have to say "gangsta"? I alternated between complete truancy and dodging arrest to cleaning up and making honor role though. Maybe I need multiple categories... LOL..

Hubby went to a very small religious school, not even people to really label, but is proud to be a computer nerd anyways

I went to a microscopic-sized high school -- 80 in the school, 12 in my class. We got to do everything, so I was a 3 sport letterman, band geek, choir nerd, student government leader, computer nerd (if you consider the old Apple IIe a computer), and more.

The Mrs. went to a little bit bigger school - she was part of the party crowd and was a drill teamer.
