How often are you tested for STDs?

I'm no big swinger, nor do i claim to be. Aside from that, i am wondering how often are most swingers being tested for stds? I know that most of the tests, especially for guys, aren't exactly enjoyable.

We both get tested 2x a year and each of us give blood every 2 months as well.

If we're active in the lifestyle (which we're not right now), we'll get tested according to how active we are. Generally, we go for quality over quantity anyhow, so usually we're tested for each new partner. Otherwise it's every 6 mos. to a year. I have to go in once a year anyway for my regularly scheduled lube/oil/filter so if we're active, I just ask the doc to throw in a few extra tests. Mr. intuition doesn't get tested usually, on the advice of our doctor. She said it just stands to reason that if one of us has it, so does the other. The testing would be redundant.

I tried to tell Mrs Spoo this - the nurse with the needle - and especially the doctor with the penile swabby thing ("penile swabby" - not to be confused with "kemo sabby") - but they weren't buy it...



I'd have to say we are once a year folks - it would probably be more if time and money permitted.

I get tested once a year and my wife every three to four months. I rarely have sex with other women but she has unprotected sex with two other men and our interest is mfm. Our threesome partner is tested every four to six months.

I am the same as intuition and Mr. GT gets tested by proxy.

I will tell you for anyone that has not had the cotton swab dagger up the penis, you are very very lucky. First time I was 19. I came home and crawled in bed for hours. I went last month for my yearly test and they don't do the swabby from hell any more. It was a urine test.

We've started a schedule of each of us every 6 months, staggered so that there's 3 months between. It's free at the sex clinic in the nearest big city, and we see no reason not to.

We used to do once a year...but it kept coming up clean and so we now will do it IF we or someone we know, says they have symptoms or caught a bug.


Oh and porn starts are tested every month......
