There's nothing wrong with someone observing that someone else is old, young, fat, thin, intelligent, a little slow, etc. There's also nothing wrong with saying that they prefer to be around people based on those observations. Sure, they miss out on all the cools things that everyone else might bring to the table but that’s their issue.

$.01- The OP could have left a sentence or two out that sounded holier than thou.
