I wanted to chime in because I myself have put on quite a bit of weight in the two years I have been with my boyfriend. It was a passive-aggresive thing (which I know now is silly). For awhile in the relationship I felt very self-conscious and as if my boyfriend was above me, and more powerful because the dynamic of our relationship was that he was the famous musician and I was the sexy little groupie. Once we'd been dating for awhile I wanted to make sure that he wasn't with me only for my body, so I started putting on weight to test him. (Subconsciously). Funny thing is, he likes me way better now curvy instead of tiny and bony. It is a real relief to not have to be obsessed with how I look and know I'm going to be adored no matter what.

But I have to say though that 100 lbs is a lot of weight to put on. In my opinion, your wife is probably depressed, eating in a misguided attempt to comfort herself. Now, I can understand not being as attracted to her. When I was younger I had a boyfriend who was very overweight. He was really funny, so I tried hard to make myself be physically attracted to him, but I just could not do it. I am sorry, but wanting to swing just so you can seek out more svelte partners is just wrong. It isn't wrong that you have a sexual urge to be with a pretty woman, but it is wrong that you are doing this to your wife.

You need to have a real serious talk with your wife. Find out what is wrong with her, what she feels she is lacking. When I am unhappy in a relationship I will ignore my feelings and instead eat to cover them up. I know others in the thread have said it is not right to point the finger at the guy for his wife gaining weight, but I disagree. It might not be the guy directly, but her whole life in general may be in a rut. I am not saying all overweight people are sad. But to put on such a drastic amount of weight (without a medical reason), you are covering something up. If you love your wife, try to find out what that is and help her. Maybe like me your wife put on weight to get back at you for something.

If you want to be with thinner women, than divorce your wife and go out and find a smaller girlfriend. Then maybe she will get the chance to find a man who is able to respect her, or better yet rediscover independence and self-love. Perhaps then her weight will start to come off.
