Pictures of a potential couple remind us of someone

and the guy looks just like my uncle. Well, like my uncle looked 15 years ago. The idea of getting busy with someone who looks like a close family member is kinda This could turn out to be a real problem because my dad has 6 brothers

So anybody ever turn down potential play partners because they were just too familiar looking? Or have you gone ahead anyway and gotten past it (or not gotten past it?)

Oh Crimeny... My fear is that I meet up with someone I know. I keep thinking what if we met up with a relative that we had no idea was in the lifestyle?

Right now, we're talking with a couple, and the male looks like one of my work mates. I'm not exactly fond of him, but we're not going to let that get in the way. He's not him, so we're just not going to let it bother us!

Yes, it happened to us once. Met a really nice couple for drinks and we got on well with them, but the bloke reminded Red far too much of her late father, so we reluctantly declined to take it further.

LOL this question is great! The male half of a couple we've been considering playing with has a mustache. Not the short stubbly kind, the Tom Selleck kind. My DAD has that kind of mustache!!! UGH! Don't know if I'm going to be able to get past that! LOL ( I guess I should focus on the Selleck resemblance and not the dad resemblance!)

We have never had this happen yet but we did get contacted by a couple recently and after we opened our private face pictures to them we got a nice email back saying that I looked exactly like her uncle. They declined to meet us for that reason.

This thread finally, finally has given me the answer to the question.....

'How do you say no thanks to a couple when its obviously based on looks?'

I will just say one of them looks like a relative! Its perfect

That's the fear that I have. But then I figure well if I'm doing it then they're doing it too I guess. But still, it's a terrible thought.

That said, I couldn't go any farther if the guy reminded me of someone in my family.

It wasn't that she was familiar looking, but the very first couple we met with for full swap when we were newbies, the wife had the same name as my husband's ex-wife. My hubby and I both had the same reaction to that, we would MUCH rather that she'd had a different name. But, we did go ahead anyway and got past it.

We've turned down a couple because he looked like a relative of mine and it totally creeped me out. I had trouble even looking at him. *shudder*
Sometimes its not the strong physical resemblance. Sometimes even mannerisms that are too close to home tweak me out.
Its a funny thing. Everyone has a twin, right?

Hmmm... for me it's my mom. My mom was really skinny and very small breasted. I have always been most attracted to the opposite and that is the only reason I can think of. I am really attracted to women in the size 10 and up category. They're all good but I find myself gravitating mostly towards plushier women.

The very first couple my ex and I ever met to play with, the female half reminded me TOO MUCH of my (at the time) step-mother. Being new and obviously inexperienced we played anyway. Doing so I think was a huge regret for all of us. They were also new and there were other issues. After we parted ways I don't think any of us had a great desire to see each other again.

However...
A few years later we ran into each other at a function and low and behold she'd dyed her hair and with that one change she took away that resemblance. We'd all matured quite a bit in regards to swinging as well and were able to talk about that first night and what went wrong (lots of miscommunication), and ended up being great friends.

I say be honest with them. Heck, reply back to them and say "Hey, your name was never ______ was it? Cuz you look just like my uncle!" Play your cards right and you may end up with some good swinger friends.
