  1. I know where you are coming from of this. We had these same fears/issuses when we first started looking into this. We were at our heaviest when we 1st started. I was just shy of 6' and north of 400, she was 5'8 and around 280. We even went one further and went to a nudist/swingers resort. We were expecting a cold reception because we had seen all the same sites you've seen. We both also had our personal history of how we'd been treated due to weight. Well, we were in for a surprise. We have never felt as welcome and appreciated as we did that weekend. We just fit in. Most people were smaller than us, but there wasn't any of the stereotypical Ken and Barbie's. Everyone was just normal people like you see in everyday life. There were hairy hippies, average soccer moms, old people, people with scars, and even a couple larger than us. Once the clothes came off and everyone was around the pool everyone was equal. We had people introducing themselves and welcoming us all weekend, and that carried over to the party, and on premises house that night. This is a link to a post I'd done before describing how this affected my wife who was very shy. I will also tell you don't discouraged with going to the "Y" it will take time, but it will be worth it. Not for how others feel about you, but how you physically feel yourself. We used swinging and our health as a motivator to start loosing weight this last January. I've dropped from 410 to 350 and she lost from 280 to the mid 230's. So it can be done, just keep working at it, it takes time. It seems we had a complication though. Loosing the weight and getting in shape gave us more energy and that led to too much time in the bedroom and we seem to now be knocked up. I wonder how that happened.

  3. Well it is time for our monthly update, even if it is a few weeks late. Things have been going well for us. With the improved weather we have been getting out more and being more active on top of what we are doing in the gym. We've started doing day hikes on our weekends off. Had a great time going to Cloudland Canyon state park a few weeks ago and hiking. That is something that a year ago we wouldn't have even dreamed of doing. I have to say I am very proud of my wife. She has gone down 34 lbs. She has dropped from a size 24 to an 18-20. She got a new outfit for her birthday and all I got to say is WOW!! I have slowed down a little on the weight loss, but it is still dropping. I'm down another 9 lbs to 367 lbs. I even managed to get on a pair of size 42 shorts at the store. This has gotten us both excited to get out and about more in the lifestyle. Unfortunately things are pretty dead in this area online. Our best out look looks like spending a weekend at the grove, but with new jobs and the assorted BS in life there is no telling when we'll make it back there. Hopefully late May or June, but who knows. We hope that everyone else out there that said they are working on getting healthy are having good luck. Feel free to message us if you want to talk, trade advice, or anything.
  4. I'm glad my posting this has helped you. Sounds like you are off to a real good start. I should have another update on us in a week or 2. Keep up the good work.
  5. Well, it has been a month since I posted the 1st blog Tired of being fluffy and I figured it was time for an update. We have made great steps both on ability and weight loss. We have both moved from our 30min 1.25 mile treadmill work out to 45min 2.5 mile most of the time. My wife has started using the elliptical as well and is increasing her speed as she gets more comfortable. I have managed to get to 3.1mi in 30 min on the elliptical. We have also been working on our mile speed as a bench mark and she has managed to improve from 24min mile to just under 21min. I have gotten from just under 22 min to 18 min. As for weight loss she has now lost a total of 25lbs and has gone down 1-2 sizes depending on the clothes. I am down 34lbs to 376lbs as of this morning and 42%BF. I have gone from having my size 50 jeans fitting just right to wearing 48's and those being loose. I can just fit in my old 46's, but they are still a hair tight. I should be able to move into them and a few weeks. One of the happiest things clothes wise is I can now finally wear my 3x shirts with out my huge gut causing them to pull out after being tucked in. Now I can wear one all day and almost never have to fix it. Well that's enough for this month. I'll have another update in April. Till then we're gonna keep working, hopefully losing another 10/20 before or next trip to "The Grove" in May or early June.
  6. Thanks for the support. I'm gonna try and keep this updated every few weeks or so. Maybe I can use the status reports here as additional motivation.
  7. I've never posted a blog before so I figured this would be a good place to start. My wife and I have both been heavy most of our lives. Her as long back as she can remember and I since my preteen years. We've tried about every gimmick and fad out there to loose weight both before and after we got married. We had finally given up and said the hell with it, there is nothing we can do about it. There was never the time to do anything, or the money for gym memberships or eating right. Well that all changed in December of last year when I hit an all time high weight. I've been 300+ since 2001, but when I went to the Dr on the 28th for a sinus infection I got the shock of my life. I stepped on the scale and it read 410lbs. I decided that I had to do something. Starting a week later after I'd got over being sick I started making my self work out. We have a Treadmill and Elliptical at my part time job, and I started going there every day off from my regular job and using both. To begin with I could barley do 5min on each machine, but I made myself work at it and add 1 min each each day. After about 3 weeks of this I had lost a little weight and was feeling better, my wife was seeing a difference in me and was beginning to get motivated. We went together and checked out a new gym in town and after taking the tour and meeting the trainers we decided to join. We are now going to the gym together 3-4 days a week. We have changed our eating habits. No more fad diets or gimmicks, just simply watching what we eat and eating 6 small meals instead of 2 huge ones a a day. This is an actual lifestyle change that we can stick with and make permnate. I now have to say I am incredibly proud of my wife. She has worked her ass off Literally. Every day I see her I get more and more proud. She has gone from barely walking a mile in 30 min to doing just shy of a 20min mile now. She has lost 16lbs and 4% body fat in 3 1/2 weeks. I can't believe how proud I am of her I have had great changes as well. I now regularly do 1.5 mile in 30 min on treadmill or 2 miles on elliptical 4-5 days a week. On Friday I even did a 5k on the treadmill in 1hr5min. I have gone from 410 on Dec 28th to 390 as of this morning. Three weeks ago I was at 49% body fat and I'm now at 44%. We both know this is not going to be quick. It's going to take time, but by this time next year we'll no longer be Fluffy. Sorry if this is long winded.
  8. Wow, we've only had 500 people check us out. We must suck. No one loves us. lol Seriously I believe it's a side effect of living in such small town. Oh well.
  9. We currently live in a mobile home. It not our fantasy home by any stretch, but it's not bad for a 1st home. At least we live in a fairly nice subdivision and not a "Jerry Springer" like trailer park.
  10. Hey it's us again. We had to take a few months off due to work and other life related BS. We decided to redo the add and change what we were looking for when we started back up. Any feed back is welcome. Thank you.
  11. With us it wasn't swinging per say that help us, but our trip to The Grove last year. I've always been heavy and self conscious about it. It never was a major issue for me, but I was ashamed of how I looked at times. After spending the whole weekend running around nude, and having fun together I was amazed. I couldn't believe how nice people were and how well we were treated. It made me realize people will accept me for more than my looks. My wife on the other hand was even more affected. She was always shy, self conscious, really low self esteem, and very low confidence. After that weekend she has done a complete 180 and hit the gas. It's like she's a whole new person. She's now outspoken, she'll go right up to people and talk to them, she tries new things, and has made more friends. I love the change in her. I'm proud of her for coming out of her shell. Like I said ours wasn't so much swinging, we did do a little soft-swinging together with another couple, it was the acceptance we had in general.
