I know it's been a long time since we've had a MOTW, but it's time to start up again since summer is almost over!! Enjoy!

This week's Member of the Week is Mr. Essex. We are glad to have him in the spotlight this week.

Swingers Board interviews are a way for us to get to know each other better. It is a way to acknowledge just how wonderfully varied a community we are. Every Sunday, a new interview will start and the old interview will be locked. Be sure to stop in and get to know them better by asking them every nosy, intimate, personal question you can think of.

Every Swingers Board member is allowed to ask the amount of questions specified by the interviewee in the answers to the default questions. If they discover that they chose too high or low a limit, they may change their choice.

Try to keep this thread about the person being interviewed. If you want to comment about things you discover you have in common or just elaborate on a response, pm them and make a new friend or start a new thread about it. This is intended to be a friendly thread, so please don’t ask anything in a purposeful attempt to get a heated debate. Of course, nobody is required to answer a question that they do not want to.

Also, please keep in mind that any answers you post are viewable to complete strangers. There is some risk in that. Again, all questions are optional.

Did you grow up in N. Dakota? My husband's mother was born there. Actually, pretty country.

What's the most important lesson you've learned as a single male in the swinging world? What's the single most important piece of advice you could give to a newbie SM?

Assuming that is the case, I have a question regarding your screen-name.
Mr. Essex, are you perhaps a fan of Marvel comics (and villians of the X line in particular), or just a fan of that area across the pond? Or is that a legitimate name?

1. It's been 8 years, which is the reason why I didn't become an active participant until a couple of years ago, but every day is a blessing in and of itself.

2. No, I'm stationed here of my own free will. And it is gorgeous (if a bit flat) out here.

The most important lesson I've learned? A closed mouth won't get fed. if you aren't willing to talk to people, you aren't going to get any farther than a returned smile or friendly nod (even if you're the second coming of Adonis).

The most important piece of advice? Find out the boundaries before you do anything. Some couples are full swap, some couples are oral only, some couples are bisexual, etc., etc. etc. If you don't want to have a "life experience", you'll do best to set up your limits before you even consider accompanying them into their room. This is especially important as there are quite a few couples in the lifestyle who have "extreme" ideas of what they can get/make a single man to do/do.

One example: Some men have very different ideas of bisexuality. I met a husband who (for some weird reason) helped himself to cradling my testicles, despite the fact that the meet and greet that I enjoyed with his wife emphasized his monosexuality. When I had a moment of coherence during my turn with his wife and I did the math (Her hand on my back, her hand on her stomach rubbing her clit, wait, women don't have THREE hands!), a relatively entertaining night became less than fruitful. In that case, his idea of bisexuality involved penetration of one man by another, which meant that intentional manual contact was permitted. My version of bisexuality is a bit more/less stringent (incidental contact during a DP or other position is fine, intentional grabbing is out of order.) If I'd taken cultural norms into account, I could have avoided the situation.

Heh, got it in one. I reluctantly admit that I'm a big fan (not to the point of making a fan website) of Mr. Sinister. Although the name came in handy during my time in Europe. Apparently, Essex, England is full of sexually "liberated" people. At least, the people who'd respond to my ads thought so.

The title would be "A Series of Uninteresting Events", and it would be found in the non-fiction section of your local bookstore. Some of it would be meta, some of it would be erotic, but it would definitely be the type of book that prompts people to say, "Geez, publishers, screw up the title much?"

1. There are so many to choose from, but I'll save the tarring and feathering for the one "celebrity" who's consistently able to push my buttons: Paris Hilton

2. I don't really own a lot of things, but I'll miss my computer, my autographed picture of the Deftones and my "name" (my bride wrote my name in kanji for me. It's my precious memory) the most.

3. Buy a million Lotto tickets. Noone said that I had to return all of the money, right?

Who are your most important literary influences? I ask because you seem like an introspective person with a lot of perspective and a sense of adventure. I'm wondering if any books you've read had a big influence on your character.
