This week's Members of the Week is lizandtom. We are glad to have them in the spotlight this week.

Swingers Board interviews are a way for us to get to know each other better. It is a way to acknowledge just how wonderfully varied a community we are. Every Sunday, a new interview will start and the old interview will be locked. Be sure to stop in and get to know them better by asking them every nosy, intimate, personal question you can think of.

Brief Intro: Hi, thanks for our 15 minutes of fame, as anonymous as it is. We've been together for 20+ years, would consider ourselves upper middle class, 2 kids, love the nightlife, have little in the way of issues; have an admiration for almost all in the lifestyle, although we play with whom we have chemistry only (I guess thats true about just about all).

We really don't focus too much lifestyle effort online. Liz is hardly ever online for lifestyle things, and me only sometimes.

We met at a club where I (Tom) was playing in a band, although you could say it really was during college. I don't remember what I was wearing, but Liz had on blue jeans, black penny loafers, and a high school letter jacket.

Bass in that band, but also play guitar & keyboards. Nowadays just fool around with some home studio stuff

Great question During our first 16 years together, Liz had made some inferences occasionally about an interest in women. For example we were in bed watching TV one night and there was a commercial showing male Chippendale type dancers, and I said 'what could be better than that for you,' to which she replied 'a room full of women.' I was floored, jaw hanging down the floor, but intrigued nonetheless.

I searched the web and found "Wild Women Vacations" for the bi-curious, held 4 times per year at Hedo3. In May '04 I asked Liz if she'd like to go. Without hesitating a definite yes, so we went in Aug. '04. It was bi-experimental for her so I was more there for support and to party, but took no part in any lifestyle activities that trip. It turned out to be the best vacation of our lives (up to that point lol). When we got back to NY, we sought out the local scene which is very active.

If you were a novel, what would you be titled, and in what section of the bookstore would you be found?

Liz here since I'm the one who reads for pleasure. I can say with certainty that we'd be found in the self help cooking section under 'spices.' As for a title, it would be along the lines of 'The fun side of making it through parenting,' or 'Yes life doesn't have to be mundane.'

What's the scene like in NY? Do you frequent clubs? House parties? Do you typically play with couples?

There is a very active lifestyle scene in NY, probably due to the population of the tri-state area alone. We are lacking any really good on premise swing clubs such as Trapeze in Lauderdale or New Horizons in Seattle. The best is Checkmates but it is rather small and no grey area regarding playing or not; you go to play or you find yourself alone at the bar after midnight. There are a number of 'roaming' parties put on by the likes of sexxymofo, bliss, sinsation and more; some are on premise, some are off. One of the most popular off premise clubs is the Long Island Manor, a/k/a www.couplesnightclub.com . By far it draws the most dependable steady stream of customers, and imho the most HWP compared to any other clubs around. Luckily for us we're 15 minutes away so its a short trip to playland lol.

Regarding house parties, we love them with people on a similar playing field of no issues drama and who are HWP, but we feel they are relatively few and far in between. IMHO people are less apt to open their houses around here for fear of any type of ramifications of drama or people with issues, although suite parties come up every now and again.

We prefer to play with couples who have been together for quite a while, as they seem to be able to concentrate on us individually instead of being distracted by having to watch their partner too often. We have had one single guy, and 3 or 4 single women with us. We also get a hall pass on occasion to have a little independent fun. As long as we're all on the same page and comfortable with the third party, it's all good.
