This week's Member of the Week is femnewb4u2. We are glad to have her in the spotlight this week.

Swingers Board interviews are a way for us to get to know each other better. It is a way to acknowledge just how wonderfully varied a community we are. Every Sunday, a new interview will start and the old interview will be locked. Be sure to stop in and get to know them better by asking them every nosy, intimate, personal question you can think of.

Try to ask only one question (or group of questions) per post, to make it easier for the interviewee to answer the questions, and also to allow for others to ask their questions.

Try to keep this thread about the person being interviewed. If you want to comment about things you discover you have in common or just elaborate on a response, pm them and make a new friend or start a new thread about it. This is intended to be a friendly thread, so please don’t ask anything in a purposeful attempt to get a heated debate. Of course, nobody is required to answer a question that they do not want to.

I know I'm posting this a little early today. I forgot about it being Mother's Day and I have a feeling I'll be gone this afternoon seeing my own mother.

One question I have to ask is being a single female, what has been your biggest hurdle to overcome?

Hi. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to introduce myself to a wonderful group of people. I appreciate the couple who led me to check into this site. It has been a wealth of information, food for thought, and a good reality check.

Age(s): 51
Birthday(s): An August Virgo
Location: Indiana
Relationship status: Single and not in any one of those relationships that would start with a capital R. Insert...great friends. No significant other.
Swinging for how long?: started on this journey late last summer with my first experience.
Prefer to swing with: Dang! I can take that so many ways. Would you like to clarify? OH, I bet you mean combinations. In that case my answer would be, I have only been with couples (FMF, MFF) but look forward to playing in other situations.
Biggest Pet Peeve: Cannot say I have one. There are natures of people within my swinging journey that has not set well with me upon occasion. But nothing to the point of a peeve.

LFM2 I have been thinking about your question. Little things pop up. But the umbrella they all come under is....my biggest hurdle as both single and female within this has been myself.

Do I sing?!?! Every chance I get in the shower or car. But not as much as I used to. (studied it in college for a time) Actually most of it is under my breath so my friends and family are safe. High sopranos don't go over well with pop music. I grew up in a large family where on long car trips we could sing in full harmony with every voice part covered. My father woke us most Sunday mornings singing to us. My mom used the piano as a way of focusing our emotions if we were getting out of hand and there was no house/yard work "safe" to do. The town I was raised in had so many conservative churchs ( sans piano or organ) that most in the school system could sing a cappella. And when marching our music was always memorized. Some of my sibs have sung or played musical instruments professionally. The talent only seems to get better as they go down in ages. (Note I am the eldest so talented in the scheme of things, I am not.) We even play a board game around singing.

As to an instument. Jack of many, master of none. Piano. Recorder. Flute. Some percussion. Oboe. Guitar. Have played around with other instruments but not to the point that I ever performed with them. Goes back to the musical town I was raised in and musical interests on both sides of my family. Right now I only play for myself or when hanging with the wee ones. Other wise at gatherings of friends and family I let the pros (in and out of the family) do it.

And here I was hoping you guys would let me off with that answer. But nooo, you want the long one.

Let me start with pet peeves. I really don't have any in the usual sense. Never have. Feel fortunate that way. But I do notice that I will react strongly and quickly within my self to two things. Fundamentalism of any sort at either end of the spectrum. Be it in religion, politics, medicine ect. It scares me. The other one is when intentionality does not match with actions. Now aren't you sorry you asked? Until this point in my life I have done such a good job of simply avoiding the question...so a very good question Julie.

As to a hurdle to myself. This could easily be a long conversation I would enjoy having over coffee or a drink with interested parties. Or how about a hot tub on a cool eve? After all feed back on the topic would be enlightening for me I am sure. When I say I am my biggest hurdle as a single female I mean that being alone in this journey means what I read, hear and experience is without friends or a partner to sit and sort out. It can get almost paralysing at times. Do I post pics? Do I not? How much security is being smart when no one can know where I am or what I am doing? How much is too much if it inhibits play to a great extent? Do I push my comfort zone and go to house parties where I know no one when I am walking in alone and no one knows where I am? Or is that being smart? What friends do I tell what to in order to have safety precautions? Am I too stringent it what I want in playmates? Am I not choosy enough as a "unicorn"? Can a single be a swinger? How do I help others learn I am not just interested in being a toy, or a lay, etc without coming across as too mental and not enough fun. (Though at times being a toy would be wonderful.) I could go on but have already bored some of you. A few of these we have talked about right here on the board. Thank you to you all! Many of these are questions you have asked yourselves in your own journey. But as a single with no friends in the lifestyle, and as a female, and as truly bi, the resources for feedback are limited, the room for judgement amoung the lifestyle is great (insert angry emails), and the SO to process with and watch my back is not there. One of the hardest hurdles has been to teach myself to be selective, secretive and more protected.

Remember the days of senior year books decades and decade ago when one had to make one choice? I was always grateful those things ended in my school before I had to do it. I knew it would never make. I truly have no favorites on anything. I'm sorry. But your questions do reveal pieces of who I am so it is mine to be honored to come up with answers for you.

One person conversation? ....while I have often toyed with that question, upon reading yours the first name that came to mind is a name that never has before. My youngest sib. Who passed on recently. Oh, the esoteric conversations we only started in recent years and never got to finish.

Famous fantasy lover? I do not remember his name but the story of his love has never left me since I first read it in college. Young man goes to village to select bride. Father of young lady tries to pay young man to marry his daughter who has the largest heart of all in the village but fair of face and body she is not. Unwanted by all in her village and nearby ones. YM refuses to buy but pays handsome in livestock for her sight unseen. Fast forward one year. YM returns to village with many livestock and a beautiful woman. Livestock is given to Father. Father is afraid YM is returning to divorce daughter and take this new woman as his bride. Yes. Woman is his daughter. Removing her from the village who judged her for her outside, living with a man who loved her in all purity, making love with her nightly for her pleasure, created a woman whose outer beauty reflected her inner beauty.

Hobbies with my own hands? Salt and Sugar scrubs are my new hobby that makes something. In the past I have knitted, done needle crafts, wood burning, models, ceramic painting, craft kits. That sort of thing. I would enjoy learning to work a potters wheel. Love to watch blacksmiths and jewelers at work.

TV is on often when I am home. But to watch....not so much. Some nights the whole line up. Others just background.

For the first time my life is without cats and dogs. Have had none for a year. An adjustment. The cats were always more like dogs. The dogs generally fell in the herding catagory. Almost everyone was a stray who found their way. Or an animal I inherited...

Cars....Oh.... How about a stutz bearcat. Then again, those Mustangs from the 60s....oooo. Just to name a couple.

Too many books to list. You should see the pile next to my bed, the bunch in the car for emergencies, the one I always carry in my purse, the shelf near the reading chair, need I go on....Oh and then there are the boxes of books still in storage waiting to find a home in my place!

Yes. I so enjoy studying the universe. But a long way from absorbing much of what I read. The place that really turns me on with it is when the interdisciplinarian aspects and multi layers begin to intertwine. When one cannot speak of piece or layer without shifting into another piece. Poorly worded but I hope something in there makes sense to you. Thank you for asking.
