How did you come up with your screen name or does it have some kind of meaning?

For Mr. Ivory, it's the apostrophe as well, especially people using possessives when it's just a simple plural.

Mrs. Ivory also finds that insanely annoying, but to be different, she'll say modification of "unique." People, "unique" means "one of a kind" you can't be "really" or "extremely" one of a kind!

Oh, and their/there/they're. But we'll stop now.

Mr. Ivory came up with the screen name. It's a reference to the fact that we're both academics and thus live in an "ivory tower." Of course, in the singular, it also references Mr. Ivory's personal tower

Mrs. Ivory is reading a mystery novel called A Plague on Both Your Houses and a biography of Sir Walter Raleigh.

Mr. Ivory is teaching a brand new course on science fiction this semester, so he's reading a ton of sci-fi every week, and therefore doesn't have time for recreation reading!

We're both looking forward to reading The Ethical Slut (revised edition).

Interesting question! We discussed it this morning and first decided that we get to answer twice each (once for back in time, once for forward).

Mr. Ivory wants to go to 1848, and meet Karl Marx, Darwin pre "Origin of the Species" and see what early Transcendentalism was really like.

He'd then like to go 150 years in the future and see how humans manage the global warming crisis and if we actually establish colonies on other planets (as well as whether or not social and political systems change radically).

Mrs. Ivory would visit England in 1589, to meet a young and not yet famous Shakespeare, a young and famous Marlowe and, of course, Queen Elizabeth, after the triumphant defeat of the Spanish Armada.

She'd go much further into the future than Mr. Ivory--4 or 5 centuries. She wants to see what really happens in the future!

I see that you both teach within the field of English. If you could create your ultimate job/passion within the field, what would it be? Thinking way outside the box is presumed ...

Yes, we do have a garden. We grow veggies (mostly tomatoes) in the back yard, and we have perennials and annuals all around the property. We've also got some very nice rhododendrons and a new forsythia that we're looking forward to seeing bloom this year.

Mr. Ivory is the official tender of the garden.

We're a bit confused by this question; do you mean "within the field of English what's your dream job"?

If that's your question, Mrs. Ivory is please to say she has her dream job (teaching Shakespeare at a small liberal arts college). Sorry that isn't outside the box!

Mr. Ivory would like to create and run a creative writing program with any writer he wants.

As a fellow idealist and do-gooder, I am interested as to which charities you guys would give the 100 million dollars? Why are those charities important to you?

(Hopefully I didn't make too many grammatical errors. Grammar is more the Mrs. field, as she is an English professor as well. I was always more of a history, theology, philosophy kind of guy so grammar can be a struggle.)

Sci-Fi is recreational reading

Let him know that its not a complete course unless it contains Dune, and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.

Unlike most people here, you are very upfront about your politics, so I have to wonder does the other couples politics play a part in your decision making process as to their compatibility with you?
