| Let's get comfortable... Join Date: Jan 2004 Posts: 8,436 Location: On the couch Status: Married to Mr LM | Recently, you made this comment in another thread: We rarely -- and I mean, RARELY give out face pics for all the reasons we've posted before... For those of us - like me- who don't remember all the reasons you've posted, could you tell us what those reasons are? Also, on those rare occasions when you do share a face pic, what are your reasons for doing it? Nice to see you in the spotlight this week! LM |

Now -- a lot of us can argue that we all might be in that same boat. And I don't disagree. We (he and I) have a little different view on that. But as we've said so many times before, we go at the pace of the slowest person, so we go at his pace. There was a time that he probably would NEVER been seen at a club within 100 miles of our hometown; he's becoming warmer to the idea of it, but not ready to get our membership cards yet. I've shared my picture with others ... he doesn't like it that much, so I haven't done it often. Truthfully, someone probably just seemed very nice and trustworthy, so I shared. We share our body pics because we want people to know our sizes and that we're in fairly good shape (could be better -- could be worse). For us, the face pics aren't as important as people's attitudes. If Ken and Barbie have the personality of a turnip green, they're not going to be attractive to us. If Average Joe and his wife are a lot of fun to be around and we click, then the chemistry will be there. We just think a lot of people make snap decisions with pictures and don't give others a chance. I think that's what Julie was trying to say in a thread a while back about how they met and played with a couple at a club, then went home and read their SLS profile. They never would have contacted them through SLS. I think a lot of our attitude, and especially Mr. Fun's attitude, was how pics were handled on vanilla sites such as match.com -- he didn't have a pic up (not because he thought he'd be fired, he just didn't want his employees to know his personal business), and he said a lot of women wouldn't even engage him in email because he didn't immediately send a picture. I had one up; he said that he almost didn't write me because I looked like a "pretty people;" meaning, it was clear I picked the "just right" pic to post and spent time writing my profile. Well duh -- I was trying to get a friggin date! He said he figured I only dated Ken-types. We're not Ken and Barbie, but he's not Dennis Franz and I'm not Rhea Perlman either. Maybe it's a security thing (?)

You know what has changed more than anything? It's my outlook on life. I have always thought of myself as the person who lives life to the fullest -- but in a controlled way. I spent many years sweating the small things. I think I have a better, more open outlook on life. And I think I have the capability of really thinking out things and situations that I never have before. Maybe these things have come to pass because I'm getting older -- I'm not sure. But if you can put SEX in perspective, it sure makes it easier to put other parts of life in their proper perspective as well.

Put New York on your list of things to do. With as grounded yet adventurous as you seem, you'll love it. Red or white? Favorite season? What style/architecture of house interests you? Thanks!

I can't wait to go to NY. I just know I'll love it. I should start working on a plan ... At the moment, red is my favorite. We've been drinking a lot of J. Lohr Cab Sauv, but truly for an every day wine, my favorite is Menage a Tois. It's a blend of three grapes (hence the name) and I just think it's good. There's a white version, but I haven't tried it yet. I really enjoy all seasons. Cool thing about living in VA is we GET winter (but not always snow ), but it doesn't last too long. Neither do our springs typically. I love the summertime; I love the fall and driving to the mountains and enjoy the colors of nature. If I could buy anything right now, I'd buy a loft type condo in an old warehouse that has the brick exposed walls. With very tall ceilings, and lots of windows. I like the nice things like granite kitchens and Roman showers. We like a modern/contemporary style, but not too "out there." When is this real estate thing gonna turn around??

| insert witty banter here | I live with two dogs, two cats, two boys, and Mr. Fun. Mr. Fun's daughter, the only other estrogen around, is at school so I'm the ONLY female force in the house. It can be tough. Hair is EVERYWHERE, and the animals shed, too ![]() It's interesting dynamics, that's for sure ![]() |

No one in the house or expected for several hours, I like to turn on the fire, turn out the lights and listen to Roger Waters while completely veging out on the couch. What is your favorit ALONE time activity? Your friend, Prettylady ![]()

I love the peacefulness of alone time. I have turned down the lights, lit the fire, lit some candles, put on the most ragged, comfie sweats I own, poured a class of wine and watched some chick-flick with the volume down low. Or the luxury of a nice, hot bath ... This past Sunday, I was so looking forward to some alone time. Mr. Fun was out of town; one kid was out and about, and the other was supposed to be. He told me earlier in the day he was going to go visit his mom. I had a plan ... I was going to call one of our play partners (don't like to make those calls in the house when kids are home), they I was going to run a bubble bath with candles. We only have one bath tub, and that's the "kids bathroom" -- I hate to occupy that space for two long, just in case. Well -- the one son never went to visit his mom. I didn't get to make my call, and I didn't get the bubble bath. Or -- just the pleasure of being able to READ for fun -- PrettyLady, I know you know what I mean, since you're in school and you probably feel guilty reading anything that isn't school related. I need a vacation. ![]()

(I'm not going to get fired for looking at this board at work, but I might get fired for laughing my ass out of the chair at work). I can't believe no on caught that before now. As my son say, I'm such an "ardtard" Favorite soup -- I actually really enjoy soup. I love a good she-crab soup (there is a restaurant on the ocean in Virginia Beach, Virginia that has the best. she-crab. soup. EVER.). I also love a good lobster bisque. But for everyday consumption, I love a homemade tomato-basil or a butternut-squash soup. Yummy stuff!!
