Personally, I think there would be far less divorce and tension filled relationships in this world if people understood respect and put way more emphasis on that than they do the simplistic idea of love. It's easy to love, far more difficult to truly respect someone. And I believe when you truly respect someone that you love, the love is so much better and only grows. Love has its peaks and valleys and too many people are ready to give up on their relationships just because their love hits a low point at times. People should try to understand that love evolves and it's not going to be the giddy, high school, puppy dog stuff that it starts out as. But as long as respect for one another is maintained, couples can go through the cycles that love evolves through and survive.
I'm very impressed, and was appreciative that you took the time to respond to my question (several posts earlier) as you did. There's something to learn from most posts, especially those answered from the heart. Shortcomings and past mistakes are not something ever easy to admit to or explain, and I respect your thoughts a great deal.

As for your thoughts on respect, one of my very best friends told me that he & his wife made a New Year's pledge one time to treat each other as well as they each treated their family dog, which although it sounds amusing, was actually very profound since they were pet lovers.

Anyhow, thanks for the response. You guys sound like a lot of fun.

1. Taco Bueno ... for those of you who might live in a state without Taco Bueno, it's kind of like Taco Bell but with fresher, less greasy ingredients.

2. ???? For what? I guess glue, lol

3. Plastic ... easier to carry multiple bags at once. Though I hate the cheap recycled plastic bags that Walmart has gone to. :rollseyes They rip so easily.

4. We have a desk top, but I would love to have a laptop with a wireless modem. However, I hate laptop keyboards. And our new desktop came with a latptop style keyboard ... flat keys, very close together.

5. I guess I like being cooked for, since I prefer to eat out than eat at home most of the time. I like cooking only when I am in the rare mood to do so.

6. POMC (Parents of Murdered Children) because I am an advocate for the criminal justice system, because my worst fear is something horrendous like that happening to one of my own children, and because it is a worthy cause that gets very little attention. I think it is necessary for people to get involved in movements to change our world every chance they get.

Favorite Day of the Year? Valentine's Day

Summer or winter? Summer

Hugs or Kisses? Depends on who we are talking about: both from hubby, hugs from kids

Pepsi or Coke? Coke

Top or Bottom? Bottom

Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate

What books are you reading? Not reading any right now. Haven't been to the bookstore in a while and all my books are still packed up (we just moved).

Favorite TV Show? This is a triple tie: Desperate Housewives, Law & Order SVU and ER

What's on your mouse pad? Don't have one right now, but will be getting an "I Love Lucy" one soon.

Favorite board game? Trivial Pursuit or Monopoly

What did you do last night? Nothing much ... dishes, watched tv ... wasn't feeling well.

Favorite Author? Again a triple tie: Ann Rule, Patricia Cornwell, James Patterson

Who inspires you? My family

Butter, Plain or Salted popcorn? LOTS of butter and salt

Dogs or cats? I like both a great deal, but I like the low-maintenance of cats. I have two: an orange/white tabby named Lucy and a black/white tabby named Abby. I prefer female cats. They don't spray. lol

Favorite Flower? rose ... any color besides yellow ... not a fan of yellow.

What do you say when you wake up in the A.M.? I am not a morning person, so it's best I not say anything when I wake up. Normally, the first thing I say is "I love you too" to my hubby on his way out the door.

Do you still talk to your best friends from middle school? Not from middle school, though I do occasionally talk to a few from that time period. I talk most to my best friend from high school, and we usually keep in touch via email.

What advice would you give newbies? Make sure you are in this lifestyle because you want to be and make sure it's not to "fix" something that is broken in your relationship. ALWAYS determine your comfort levels by the least comfortable partner and keep honest communications open at all times.

Who's posts do you find yourself looking for when you look at the board? Several ... BodyScapes, Intuition, Curiousagain, EvilMJ, Jennandjames, Eternally Single, curiousduo30, two2youinswva and the Aluras ... but most of all, I seek out my mentor: LikeMinds.

3 members that you would like to see in the spotlight? Curiousduo30 and BodyScapes

I have truly enjoyed being the Member of the Week this week, and can't wait to see who is spotlighted next week!

1. love

2. cunt

3. I am not very creative, lacking in spirituality, so that leaves emotionally, and I am very emotional ... so I guess what turns me on emotionally is benevolence and generosity. People helping out their less fortunate neighbors.

4. Lack of hygiene

5. Fuck because it is all purpose.

6. Wind and rain

7. Three way tie: nails on a chalkboard, babies crying, and that annoying tap-tap-tap thing that people do with their fingertips on a surface when they are bored.

8. Lawyer

9. Farm animal breeder. EWWWWW

10. "Glad you made it!" lol

I think Jeffrey Dahmer is the most interesting to me, followed closely by Ted Bundy. And the reason being is that Jeffrey Dahmer actually evoked pity from many for being so isolated and lonely and not actually vicious in his nature. True, his crimes were vicious and horrible and terribly disgusting, but you could see that there was some humanity in his eyes. You could see that he hated the compulsion that drove him to do the things he did. Conversely, I am interested in Ted Bundy because he was so callous and vicious and so completely lacking in even a shred of humanity.

Thank you so much for the compliment (at least that is how I am gonna take it!!! And Dito I look for your posts too!!! )

Where did you and your hubby go on your first date?

What would be your favorite thing to do on a free day all to yourself?

Who is your favorite music artist?

Who is your favorite actor/actress?

Makeup or Au Natural?

What is your favorite dessert?

Well, I think that's all I can come up with for now....

Glad to see you in the spotlight!!!!

Oh, my ... I love this question. Our first date was one of my favorite days in my life!

We had met on the internet and had talked on the phone, messenger and emailed for about a week. Then on February 6, 1999, we had arranged to meet in a neutral location (cuz I wasn't ready for him to know where I lived ... lol), and we would go from there. My best friend (from high school) was babysitting my kids for me and she had told me that I needed to call her at every stop so that she would know I was ok. That was back when internet meeting/dating was still very new, so she was afraid he was a freak! Anyway, we met at his cousin's apartments, because his cousin was babysitting HIS kids for him. We went to Don Pablo's for dinner, then to a movie ("Payback" with Mel Gibson ... sucked), and then to a karaoke lounge for drinks afterward. The date lasted 7 hours, we never ran out of things to talk about, he stared at me the whole time, told me how beautiful I was more than once and I was just amazed that so much time flew by so quickly! I have wanted to relive that night more than once!

On a free day all by myself? Well, since that is EVERY day for me, I guess I would do exactly what I do ... hang out on the boards all day and clean my house in between. lol

My favorite music artist cannot really be summed up to one person; there is just so much out there. But right now the one thing I never get tired of is Gary Allen (we are country music fans!)

Again, there are so many great ones to choose from, but I really like Charlize Theron and Al Pacino. But I also really like Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson. John Travolta, Nicolas Cage ... ahhhh the list goes on and on.

OMG ... I am SUCH a makeup girl! Makeup and perfume and not a hair out of place. But only when I go out. I am not one of those people that jumps up in the morning and pretties up immediately. I skag around the house all the time, but when I am going out, it takes me a good hour and a half to be ready. lol

I do not generally eat dessert. I am not a big sweets fan. But when I do, I really like chocolate cream pie.

(and of course I meant it as a compliment ... lol I, for one, have truly enjoyed your presence on the boards)

My week is actually over ... guess the moderators forgot to lock my thread.

But I will answer your question.

In him, I admire his chilvalry and romantic nature. His ability to be silly and goofy and make me laugh.

In me, I believe that he admires my spunk, my spontenaity, my rough exterior which hide my more vulnerable and soft aspects.
