Is that a good enough answer? ![]() One of the things we really enjoy traveling for, but haven’t been able to for the last several years because of medical problems—first the dog’s, then B’s—is skiing. We’ve skied at Mammoth (lots), several resorts around Tahoe (we especially like Kirkwood), several in Park City, and Crested Butte (another favorite). Hopefully by next winter we’ll be able to take several ski trips again, revisiting some old favorites and perhaps trying out a new place or two. Although we’ve been to a lot of places in the US, there are still a lot of places that we’ve missed. Besides traveling all over California, we’ve spent time in NY—both the city and upstate, WDC, Boston, Las Vegas, Memphis, Oregon, Florida, Mississippi, Ohio, Minnesota, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Hawaii. We’d like to take a leisurely road trip through parts of Utah—Zion and Bryce and those environs—and through Yellowstone. And, of course, return to Hawaii a few times. We haven’t done any foreign travel (Niagara Falls and TJ don’t count, right?), and we’d like to do some. Some friends of ours have done unstructured bicycle tours through parts of Europe, and that sounds like a lot of fun. And now, of course, with our new hobby, we need to consider places like Hedo, Desire, or the Lifestyle conventions as possible destinations.

![]() Actually, we spent our anniversary in Columbus, Ohio watching the semifinals of the NCAA Frozen Four College Ice Hockey Championships. (Doesn’t that sound just too romantic?) Fortunately, the first game didn’t start until 2pm, so we didn’t leave our motel room until after noon. ![]() A few years ago we were in St. Paul, MN, again for the Frozen Four, on our anniversary. We had hiked up this big hill to a restaurant for dinner. On our way back, as we came to the crest of the hill, we saw a big fireworks display down below us along the banks of the Mississippi River. We stopped and watched and held each other very close (Damn, it can get cold in Minnesota in early April!) and talked about how really neat it was for these nice folks to put on such beautiful display just for us on our anniversary. (We chose to ignore those spoilsports who told us the next day that the fireworks were only part of a pep rally for the U of Minnesota hockey team, who, incidentally, won the National Championship the next day.) Actually, B is one of those hopeless males who never remembers birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day or any other such occasion. He tries to make up for it by treating A to unplanned treats and pleasures at totally random times during the year. Fortunately, A is very understanding and forgiving about such things. <BEGIN soapbox>In fact, we both have a bad attitude about all those Hallmark Holidays—Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, etc.—that are designed to sell greeting cards or candy or some other commercial product and play on people’s guilt to sell the product. If you really care about your parents or your SO or whoever, then you ought to be showing it throughout the year and not just on one “special” day. <END soapbox> For example, a few years ago, when A was away on a business trip for several days, she came home to find a big ol’ LoveSwing hanging from the ceiling right in the middle of our bedroom. Her first reaction was, “What the Hell is THAT???” We tried it out that evening and it quickly became one of our very favorite possessions. The really neat part was that there was no special occasion. It was just another ordinary day in our lives, but it was one more random expression of our abiding love for one another. ![]()

It's like Yosemite with a lot more color. Instead of granite cliffs they're all beautiful reddish color. And Bryce is so unusual that I'm sure you'd love it there, too. Who said that Utah was boring??? Hope that you make it there sometime.
