| Here to Stay | Wow! EvilMJ i have totally fallen in love with your wonderful sense of yourself. Your answers are filled with both humor and intelligencel...an unforgetable combination Go for the writing career. I would love to read anything you write. Just don't write about what interests you, i would hate to advocate serial murder. I understand what you say about the curse of cursing; and the french connection wasn't lost when the Acadians went south. Here in LA, where they have "their own little country"; the f-word is like their second language. I find myself using it more than i like since i've been here...almost 20 years. When i go home, (to Indiana) i have to really watch myself. They look at me like i am truly a lost soul... But, then they don't know you...! I would ask a question, but all the ones i would have asked have been covered. So i'm just basking in the fun of reading your answers. Well maybe one. Do you think the coonasses ruined the Acadian way of cooking? I like it, but it's so hot. Have you ever had crawfish? Oops that's two and here's another one. Have you ever been here to your sisterland and/or if not would you like to visit Mardi Gras? OK i had more ? than i thought... ![]() |

It includes some retreads - Family Guy, Oblongs, Futurama - that you may be familiar with.... and some of Cartoon Networks own original cartoons all geared at grown ups. Oh and just in case you haven't heard, due to overwhelming DVD sales, Fox is bringing back Family Guy. |

I come come to my computer and I have a fan...okay I wish I had a fan, or three. Thank you for the kind words, honestly I thought I would make a rather boring subject. Well damned if I don't write serial killer stories, what else do I have....Maybe it's true, you can never go back home. They all think I am a sweet nice girl at home....if only they knew the truth Okay, I hate to admit this, but I have no idea what coonass is? I hope it's not what it sounds like 'cause that's just nasty!! I haven't had crawfish, it's not really something you can find around here.I have never been to 'the sisterland' but I have always wanted to go. Our family is full blood Acadian (my grandmother's maiden name is one of the origional Acadian names). I think it would be wild to see where some of the families ended up. Especially during Mardi Gras!! Watch out New Orleans, here I come!!!!

| Here to Stay | Okay, I hate to admit this, but I have no idea what coonass is? I hope it's not what it sounds like 'cause that's just nasty!! I haven't had crawfish, it's not really something you can find around here.Actually, coonass is a weird word that only sounds nasty. I'm not sure even the Cajuns know exactly where it comes from, but since they refer to themselves as such, it must not be a bad thing. It's probably a french word that got corrupted into something else. It might actually be the french word for hill billy or something like that. They have really done a number on the French language, too as you might well know. As a matter of fact, i don't think people from N.S. recognize it at all, anymore. They seem to have kept closer to the original French; while the people that came here got blended with Creoles and other races. I think they have or are planning something big for the Acadians (in your country) that have ancestors here in LA. In fact, they may have one every year. It would be nice if you could make it here for that someday, huh? Bring you Mother too. She would probably love it! Oh yeah, silly me! It's far too cold for them mud bugs up there in your winter wonderland. I think most people find the idea of eating them repulsive. Like me at first, but; being the curious person i am, i had to try them at least once. I found them to be quite tasty, although i never got the hang of sucking the heads like the Cajuns do. I am always afraid i'll get an eyeball for all my trouble... Now that's nasty!!!PS. Write about whatever you like, it's all good! |

I just kept thinking..What they hell are those people cooking with...talk about new uses for Road kill. We actually just finished up the World Acadian Congress. Acadians from all over the world came to Acadia (in the Nova Scotian Valley). Unfortunately I could not go, but my mom and dad went. They had a family reuniun for each acadian family name, it was pretty awesome and dad got to meet a ton of new family members he didn't even know he had. They had all kinds of events going on, all through the province, up here in Halifax during the Tall Ships 2004 they had pavillions serving all manner of Acadaian food and featuring traditional acadian dance. I'm not sure when the next congress will be, but I hope to attend. I know this is going to sound very ignorant of me, considering I have a degree in Canadian History and studied the acadians, but I had no idea there was a population in LA..that's really interesting. (okay, a couple of hours later I realized by LA you might mean Louisianna...no I feel stupid )You don't have to tell me about the mangling of the french language. Acadians speak what we call Franglais. Which is a bastardization of both english and french. Each area actually tends to have a variation of their own dialect. It's kind of odd actually, in school they teach formal parisien french, the french spoken in Quebec and New Brunswick tends to be less formal and has a lot of slang. So even if you speak french in school you may not be able to understand the local french due to the slang and the franglais. I would try a crawdad if given the chance. I enjoy trying new food and have an adventurous palet (I hope I spelled that correctly ) I love Dim Sum and Sushi, and love most seafood, I think I could handle a crawdad.

Am I close to my family. Very much so. My mother speaks to me almost every day and my sister (who has a very busy life) tries to call at least once a week. My husband is very close to his family as well. I think your relationship with your family says a lot about the person that you are, which is one of the things that drew me to my husband. He treats his parents with love and respect, and in seeing this I was confident that he would treat me and our child the same way (which he does). However there are certain aspects of our life that we keep to ourselves.....need I say more.

I understand perfectly what you're saying about the LA deal. I often wonder if people realize it's not L. A. in California i'm talking about when i write the initials of the state in which i reside. That is why most of the time i just write it out completely (saves confusion). Yeah, i guess that's what i heard on the news here. It wasn't in Louisiana, but was in fact in Nova Scotia that they were having that Acadian deal. One of our local newscasters was going to be there for a week to report on it. But, they did at some point have it here. I'm also sure (from what you say) that you would enjoy crawfish. They serve them here boiled in the months that contain an R and sometimes even into May they remain available fresh; and sometimes are even better. They are advertised here as: mild, hot! or kick ass (hot)! It all depends on how much cayenne pepper you can handle... To me, they taste something like lobster and some even have really large claws like a baby lobster might have. The first time i had them they were in a sauce over rice, but i soon got brave enough to try them boiled and decided i liked them better that way. BTW, i do love the way they dance. It's a little like what we (northerners) might call the boogie woogie, but so much more refined in their interactions with their partners...lol I like some of the music, too. You get to hear a lot of that at Mardi Gras. | |

Sorry about the LA mix up..sometimes I have half a brain, other times I walk around with dazed look on may face trying to figure out if my socks match. Acadian dancing is orgional this is true! I like most music anyway...any excuse to party!!

This has been a lot of fun! I have met some really great people who have made me feel very welcome. If anyone asks you to do the spotlight I would reccommend it as it definately gives you chance to show people that you are more than a name lurking on the site, and conversly you get to learn more about the other people who are here to. Thanks to everyone.....I hope I will have a chance to learn lots of cool stuff about everyone else on the site. EVIL MJ Oh and I'll let you know if my evil plan to take over the world ever comes close to fruition. <EG>
