Would you pay for high quality sex videos of yourself?

Hi everyone!!

My name is mike and I'm not too sure how to even start. I'm engaged to the coolest most amazing woman ever!! We've never thought of the idea of swinging but I am more here for an idea.

I'm not even sure if this is the right place of way to go about this but I'm looking into starting a business that provides a service for swingers(and all adults for that matter). It is a professional home video company that makes home movies of a professional grade. Something very simple where we come to your house or where ever you would like to shoot, film, and give you a professional grade DVD after it's been edited and printed. No streaming, no uploading. Your own personal DVD.

I'm in the beginning stages of starting the business and was mostly wondering if there would be much market. I'm currently a Paramedic and am looking for an alternative to a sore back everyday.

Even if you were actually swingers yourselves and built the trust with friends over time, there would probably only be a few who would be willing to pay you for a professional service like this and take the risk that you (or anyone) else has a copy of the video. Being that you are a swinger yourself and aren't likely to put yourself in that position to build that trust, the interest would likely decrease dramatically. So, no, I wouldn't suggest starting a business based on this idea.

However, there's plenty of room on the internet for yet another porn site. Perhaps if you pay them, they'd let you shoot high quality video and put it on the internet. I'm sure someone would.

I agree with Julie here, can't see a business like this taking off. I know literally hundreds of swingers, and I can count the ones that will film their play on one hand, under the most perfect circumstances. To have a stranger, especially a non-swinger do the filming, I know of no one that would even entertain that idea.

Unless you can live on less then say, $50 a week I would not even consider doing something like you are talking about.

You have been given very good reasons by others but another thing you will run into is that every person in the world now owns a video camera and computer. They can make their own and really don't care about how "professional" they look.

The same thing happened to the porn business in general. Most of the pro's have found other things to do because everyone with a video camera got into the porn business and diluted the profits to nothing.

You have a noble job saving lives. In the economy today, I would look at keeping it, Sore back and all.

Very good points. I can understand the point of not feeling comfortable of having a stranger do it also. For that aspect there would be a contract stating the user will be protected and the video will not be sold or shown to anyone but the customer. On the other hand the few people I have discussed this with (a couple of them who also swing) thing it would be a great idea.

I think it would seem more like a more exciting thing to do versus just have a camcorder and hold it yourselves. And on the other hand there would be scenes that are available.

Contracts are meaningless when someone breaks it you have to go after them, which would be costly, and considering the nature of the broken contract, people would likely not pursue it.

I would trust a good friend, WITHOUT any contract in place, before I would ever hire a stranger to come into my home with a contract in hand.

Friends will be more inclined to be supportive of your idea, even if they don't think much of it.

My husband and I have made our own personal sex videos and we loved it because we were holding the camera (or set up the tripod) and made them ourselves. No one else around. We could be completely at ease this way and had the greatest fun.

Everyone can own a video cam at a small cost and have a blast. You can video yourself without risk.

And Mike, on a personal level, how do you even know you'd want to film people having sex, being a director? Sex as a business is different than sex for personal pleasure (as in swinging) and you could find being in people's homes is creepy and you may be asked to film them doing things you may not want to see.

If you do get some accounts, let us know how things developed. And if your business doesn't make it off the ground, you can find another. Keep dreaming, have fun with ideas, and you'll find your answer to some extra income.

You might get a few takers, but I would imagine it would only be people that have not problem with having their sex scenes on a porn site for all to see. And who would also like to have it be a little more professional. But I think that would be few and far between in the swinging community.

Even then, I am not sure they would be willing to pay for it. It would either be a real hard core exhibitionist or someone that wanted to make money with it themselves. Again, both of those would be a small percentage of the already small community of swinging.

IF, big IF, we ever let someone film us, it would be someone we knew and the tape would never leave the room in anyone's possession besides our own. I would edit it myself if I even did that. Remember editing software comes free on Mac's and it is dirt cheap for low end versions on PC.

It's been done already, and in fact I think HBO's Real Sex had a segment on it at one time. Not saying it's a bad idea, but I wouldn't expect to make a living at it right away. It might be better as a hobby at first.

We have a friend who did something similar for a few years back before cams and software we so widely spread. She (notice the "SHE" part) would film women as presents for their hubbies. She had a few sets in her garage, where the filming would take place and then she would sit down with the actress and edit the film and turn over the original tape and the finished copy to the woman. She branched out into couples for a bit before she closed up shop due to the proliferation of good quality cameras.

I can see the need for sexy vids for people to give to their sig other, L did one for me and it was hot!

Yes, I think a female would be much more successful at marketing and providing that service. It's something we thought about many years ago, but with HD cams on every smart phone/ipod and free editing software, well there isn't much point. Also, we found that many people, us included, really didn't like the slick porn packaging. Amateurs having sex is a turn on because they are amateurs, or the person next door, bad angles and lack of editing included.

It's not difficult to make a good sex film yourself. You just need: 1. good lighting 2. hot sex 3. maybe a few angles. (that's the hard thing to do alone...)

I'm sure there would be some interest, depending on your location, but I don't see anything more than a hobby that can be made out of it, but good luck.

We would never pay to have someone take a video of us while we were having sex. But we have taken videos ourselves, sometimes just the two of us and sometimes with really good friends.
