I am not suprised by the ambivelence of a lot of people toward anal play. There's plenty of other factors involved in whether or not anal sex hurts or not. My wife had two bad experiences with anal sex before we met. Both were bad, one quite painful. Painful enough that she insisted she would never try it again.
