| Swingers Board Addict | Okay, so I am about to share a story with everyone and hoping that maybe this has only happened to me and I am just the odd ball out there.. But this past Sunday in the AM, MrVan and I woke up very horny, so we had sex and did it doggy style (this is not the problem so please bare with me )..Later that afternoon I started having sever pains in my lower back towards my butt and when I would sit I could not get comfortable (and no it was not anal). I have struggled all week and have been in much pain. I went to the doctor on Tuesday in which they did an xray and found out today that I have a fractured tailbone...Now part of me says that it could not have been the sex from that morning but that is the only thing that I did that day besides doing some shopping. I did not fall or anything. So tell me..Has anyone had a sex injury such as a fractured tailbone? And does anyone know if this could really have caused it? MrsVan |

Male | This is funny (Sort of) because Sharona has had a sore tailbone issue for Months now, and like you, she has no idea how it happened. She literaly can't sit on the same spot for more than 5 minutes and even bought a fluffy pillow to sit on. The last thing she did before it started hurting was play softball, but she never slid into base or anything like that. She's been to the Doc and they told her there is nothing thay can do, she's just gotta work through it. It's been months and it hasn't gotten any better. ![]()

I would think that a single adjustment should take care of the problem. Something as simple as moving your hip the wrong way can cause the pain you describe. In case you're worried, the chiropractor probably won't even touch your sore bits to do the adjustment. |

The longer you wait the longer it takes to get relief. |

I was trying to think of a way to respond to your statement, but I'll just quote instead: "Note that, contrary to most anatomical text books, most coccyxes consist of several segments: 'fractured coccyx' is often diagnosed when the coccyx is in fact normal or just dislocated at an intercoccygeal joint". The word fracture is often used interchangeably with dislocation in the medical literature. Chiropractic can definitely help. Tailbone pain is common after childbirth, and while I've never had it, a number of my clients have had wonderful results from chiropractic treatment. |

Man, that just makes me hurt thinking about it. I HOPE you are getting better already. I know that years ago I injured my coccyx while doing sit ups. It does not take much. I just hope you get better soon lady! Shelly

| Disney! All rides are open | Mrs Van I am sorry to hear about your fractured tail bone. I had one when my son was a baby. I was loading the car (saving him in his carrier for last) and fell on the icy front steps of my house. I too got an xray and found out I had a fracture. Doc said there is nothing you can do but buy one of those 'donuts' (looks like on of those blow up pool rings for kids to swim with only smaller ) to sit on. It hurt like hell unless I was sitting on that and it will take several weeks to get better. A fracture is just what it is... a fracture of your bone...less than a full break but still an injury to the bone. Chiropractic won't help...you can't "adjust" a bone fracture. If it was anything else I'm sure your doctor would have told you and offered treatment suggestions. Mrs Spoomonkey

| Not a potential *** Join Date: Nov 2001 Posts: 2,341 Location: Under the bed Status: Tired | http://www.chirowatch.com/ People will always tell you stories about how good this or that chiropractor is. There are natives who swear by their voodoo doctors too. The only scientific proof that anything chiropractic works at all is in some lower back pain and as a rule I'd say you are far better off going to a physical therapist. Now before someone decides to post their anecdotal story about their wonderful chiropractic experience, I don't care. People swear by their faith healers too, and while there are undoubtedly some chiropractors who know the limits of their field (mind you not taught limits, chiropractic theory is pure quackery) they are virtually unregulated and your odds of finding a quack chiropractor is absurdly high. I know your background, and I'm not surprised that you come out against chiropractic. As a medical practitioner, however, I would have expected you to be more evidence based. Peer reviewed, published research is clear that chiropractic can have a role in quality health care. Chirowatch is a silly site, and you'll notice that I refrained from giving URL's to websites, because I believe people should research their health care options for themselves. I don't doubt that you, as a doctor, would be the first one to be disdainful of a patient that came to you with something they "found on the internet". I see hypocrisy. |
