I have a delima with my penis I face sometimes and don't know if guys deal with this or not. Its a two prong issue: dryness on my penis and my penis being bruised by Scully's teeth. The first, I get very dry around my penis when it is not being used or if after I get out of the shower my legs, arms and penis get ashy or dry. I know being an black male tends to bring these things, but if I don't put lotion on my penis on a regular rate it will crack and get nasty. Which leads me to my second problem: scaring by tooth. Scully gives great blowjobs, but every so often her teeth scar on my penis and come the next couple of days I'm putting healing ointment on my penis hoping the scarring will go away. Its a pain when I am trying to get ready for an intimate night or if we're getting ready for the next party. So fellas, and ladies, any advice on what to do with this two prong problem? Am I the only guy who goes through this or is this universal as the morning hard on? I'll listen. Mulder (MulderNScully) |

| Save a horse ryd a cowboy | Not being black, I cannot comment as to any type of racially based cause on this, but: If I was having cracking, drying and scarring of my equipment, I would GO SEE THE DOCTOR now! My skin gets excessively dry during the winter (live in Northern WI) and I have to apply lotion at least twice a day to my entire body with the exclusion of my penis. The only time that I have had issues of any type of sore was after a cheating GF gave me a christmas gift one year that required penicillan. That is just my take on it. |

It took me a while to figure out what was causing the problem, but when I went back to regular briefs (often referred to as tighty whities, if they are white) the problem went away and hasn't reoccurred since.

I would suggest you start using a good virgin coconut oil in your diet as well as put it on your skin after you get out the shower. It doesn't feel greasy and soaks right into your skin keeping you from getting ashy for a while. You can find tons of info about coconut oil but here's a site where a good quality can be found as well as information: http://www.mercola.com/forms/coconut_oil.htm You should also eat more nuts and take essential oils to keep the skin cells running effeciently and making use of the oils. Here's a good place to get some as well as a vaporizer to use the oils or any other herb without burning them: http://air-2.com/c2/category_essential_oils.php Last edited by lott : 05-23-2007 at 02:46 PM. |

| Celebrate perversity | Dry penis? I think I have you beat in that category, and frankly, I’d be more than happy if you were the winner. I’ll give my sad tale and then give some suggestions that might help you.I was diagnosed with eczema/psoriasis 15+ years ago. For those who don’t know, the briefest definition of the condition is chronically, excessively dry skin (there are other potential problems beyond that, but I won’t deal with them here). Most of the time psoriasis appears on my scalp (usually hidden by my hair), and I get the occasional small spots on my sides and legs. Well, in late winter 2006 there was raw redness on my penis. A few days of home medication just appeared to make the redness worse. After two sleepless nights I went to a clinic and the doctor told me that what I had was NOT an STD; she’d never seen an STD with those symptoms. When I told her about my eczema/psoriasis she told me to see my dermatologist. The derma confirmed that what was showing up on my peener was psoriasis. Lucky me. Actually, yeah, lucky me to the extent that it was NOT an STD and that the breakouts can be controlled to some extent. If you’re keeping score at home, the good thing is that eczema/psoriasis is not an STD; the bad thing is that it is chronic. In my case, as is the case for many folks with psoriasis, it can be controlled to some degree. Anyway, when skin cells are directly aggravated (excessive rubbing, contact with certain metals or rough fabrics, not receiving enough topical moisture, etc.) for whatever reason, if one is prone to psoriasis, then those cells will become red, often dark red or even purple, and also if not treated, dry out and become scaly. Ick. Mental stress can cause psoriasis outbreaks also. So, for me, there is overall stress reduction because of sex, so psoriasis should be on the downswing, but all of the repeated contact of the penis with the vagina (in a condom or not) or mouth or hands is a little “stressful” to the penile skin. :surrender Unfortunately, that happens to me, but luckily some modern medications and lots of moisturizing can keep psoriasis in check somewhat. So, as you might guess, after the occasion of some vigorous boinking or masturbation, my penis might show signs of irritation. Or, which is just as upsetting, it can occur sometimes even without that activity. So, I must apply prescribed ointments (Protopic or Elidel, etc.) and then a moisturizer (Eucerin, Desitin, various natural oils, etc.), all of which should be washed off prior to sex so I don’t pass nasty prescription chemicals or bad-tasting moisturizers off to my sex partners. Yeah, it’s a pain, but to keep my willy nice and smooth and normal looking, that’s what I have to do. Even then, after repeat applications, I might have some dark spots here and there, especially on the head of my penis. They are not dangerous in any way, it’s merely dry skin, but hey, I’d like to minimize the questions concerning my boinkability. That’s just me. Since I learned of my excessively dry skin many years ago, I’ve been taking steps to minimize my problems. At the recommendation of my derma and others I no longer use ANY deodorant soap. The additives dry the skin, so I avoid them. Anything with an added fragrance is suspect, unless the ingredients are all natural, and even some of those can be irritating. Ivory and Dove are the mass-produced soap brands that are least likely to offend, but I prefer Tom’s of Maine soaps and bodywash, colloidal oatmeal bodywashes by Aveeno and others, and Cetaphil-equivalents (Cetaphil is a moisturizing cleanser that is used in a lot of hospitals. It is extremely expensive, but there are a lot of knockoffs out there. You can find Cetaphil at Kmart and other discount retailers, and the more reasonably-priced knockoffs are right beside them.) And what works for me might not work for you. Experiment. Also, avoid prolonged hot showers; lukewarm water is better. From what I understand, hot water opens up the pores and strips more of the natural oils from the skin. And limit your time in a hot tub for the same reason. I don't spend much time in hot tubs anymore -- and I really miss it -- but when I do use a hot tub, I try to moisturize all over immediately afterward with a natural oil (for example, almond oil). And it's even better if someone else applies it... So at the very least I recommend that you use a moisturizing, non-fragrance cleanser in the shower or bath, and I really recommend moisturizing afterwards. This probably will not only help the dryness on your penis, but with dry skin on other parts of your body. If things stay really dry, then see a dermatologist. Good luck! Thrax
