In the past year we have done this twice. Both times I have gotten a UTI (urinary tract infection) within a couple of days of the play. We insist on condoms when swinging. Hubby hasn't used condoms with me for over 10 years because I had my tubes tied. When I went to the doctor for the UTI, I asked him if I could have developed an allergy to condoms. He said an allergy would not cause an UTI, but vaginal inflamation. My husband is rather small in the penis department and I have never had children naturally. I do Keg exercises constantly (without thinking about it, out of habit) and I'm told I'm very tight. Three fingers are painful and two only when very wet. Both times we've swung, it has been with a larger man, but nothing terribly big. Neither time lasted in duration enough to irritate either. Anyone with an allergy to condoms that develops UTI's or any advise? Is this the end of my swinging? Does the doctor know what he is talking about? |

Does not seem to come with condoms but if we engage in sex quite frequently then boom, one comes on. I don't mean sex with multiple partners but having sex frequently in a day or having for multiple days in a row. I thought some problem might have been from dryness as I get more iritated (this has been a problem since my hysterectomy). Anyway I make sure I am quite wet and seems to allivate the problem. I sometimes get them with my husband and we don't use condoms together. He is of what is considered average size but when we have sex in certain postions his penis will rub against the urinary tract and we are so involved in the heat of the moment that sometimes it has caused problems. Especially when there is penetration for a length of time. I don't know much about condoms and allergies as I have never had that, but I do know the friction has caused them. Hope that helps some. We have sex almost daily and that never causes a UTI, we can have sex multiple times in one day and that doesn't cause an UTI. But if we have sex for a long session, and he doesn't cum, then I may get an UTI. It's as if the cum somehow prevents an UTI. He always did claim it cured everything...sore thoats, stomach upset, facials...etc. lol |

Your body chemistry (as most of us know) changes EVERYDAY. What I would suggest is to go to doctor for the antibiotic for that purpose....then.....drink PLENTY of Cranberry juice...its great for the urinary tract, as well as the vaginal area.....it helps cleanse the vaginal area as well as keeping bacteria away preventing a number of infections (and your partner will enjoy the new taste if ya know what I mean)....if you don't like the taste of cranberry juice...they now have a cranberry pill available (walmart is the cheapest place to purchase these)....I swear by this stuff...I haven't suffered an UTI since drinking this....good luck!!!!! This topic really needs to go to the Sex Questions Forum so that others can refer to it later. I am going to move it to there so that anyone in the future can easily find it. Lori

I wish they would do the same for UTI medicines. The perscription only costs me $4.95, but the doctor visit is $50.00 even though I know exactly what it is. |

Like someone else said, lots of factors can effect your immune system....stress, excitement, rest, etc. Even a healthy immune system can be overwhelmed by large quantities of bacteria. I'm not going to give you a lession in microbiology, but as everyone knows, on the surface of every object there is life in the form of bacteria and/or yeast. Including skin and even condoms. Here's an example: Susie occasionally gets yeast infections and VERY occasionally a UTI from having extended sex with anyone other than me. Everytime anything is inserted into the vagina, bacteria or yeast that are on the surface of the object are deposited in and around the vagina. This bacteria/yeast comes from a variety of places. Normal flora in someone's skin, touching a condom to some surface (like the bedding) that can transfer bacterial to it...etc. Not a pretty picture...but it's a fact of life. Everyone has their "normal flora" of micro organisms. Susie is used to my normal flora but not anyone elses. Her immune system is primed and ready to attack these bacteria that normally inhabit my skin. However, someone (or something) else that she is not used to has different bacteria. Lots of sex can deposit lots of bacteria. It can also deposit some of these bacterial in the urinary tract where they can grow and cause an infection. It's a fact of life that infections ocur. There are ways to minimize them though. Condoms are a good start. You said that you get very wet and don't require lube. Use condoms that are not pre lubed. Lube can harbor a higher quanity of bacteria. Urinate when you finish intercourse. This can flush the majority of bacterial out of the urinary tract. Don't douche. This not only washes away the "bad" bacteria, but it also washes away the "Good" bacteria and can leave you subject to yeast. I'm no microbiologist, but I do have some training in this area. For what it's worth, it's my two cents worth. |

I think you are right dave about my immune system being used to hubby's and reacts differently to others. It does discourage me from ever playing with anyone other then hubby. Puts quite a damper on the swinging lifestyle, that's for sure. |

| Swingers Board Addict | I am allergic to latex. I get inflamed big time. But I have also found out that I am allergic to nonoxinal9 the spermicide they put on the condoms. That give me a horrible UTI. So more than likely if you go to the bathroom right after sex it will prevent them. But if you allergic to the spermicide then it wont help. Try to experiment with different condoms and pay attention to how you react to them. And it is a very common allergy now a days. ![]() |

| Swingers Board Addict Join Date: Dec 2001 Posts: 6,616 Location: Ohio Status: Married Female | The FDA has proposed new warnings for over-the-counter contraceptives that contain the spermicide nonoxynol-9. The new warning would state that contraceptives that contain nonoxynol-9 do not protect against infection with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, or other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The proposed warning would also state that the use of vaginal contraceptives that contain nonoxynol-9 can increase vaginal irritation, which may increase the risk of transmitting HIV and other STDs. Nonoxynol-9 Not sure if I posted this in the right thread or not, but it appears that this spermicide can cause vaginal irriation. Lori
