Default Questions about vasectomy.

Now that I'm single again, I've been thinking about a vasectomy. But I have some questions about it that are probably not answerable by doctors or medical books.

Does it change the taste, consistancy, volume, etc., of semen? What changes or differences have you noticed since your vasectomy?

I had a vasectomy about 7 years ago and in my case I think it was the greatest thing I've ever done.

As far as taste, consistancy, etc, nobody will notice ANY difference whatsoever. Taste is largely affected by diet, so, in asking the wife, she says when I have lots of fruit juice or sweet type things, all is good to go . . . .if I've been drinking beer, I'm not getting that thing in her mouth no matter how much I beg . . . lol In the end really, I've found it all really depends on the individual getting the mouthful. I've met girls that swallowed without issue no matter what, others (like my wife) that want to know what I've been eating or drinking first . . .then others yet that wouldn't swallow it if it was pure choclate fudge.

In any case, I've noticed no difference at all in consistancy or volume and to be honest, I have figured out WHAT determines volume, seems to be way to unpredictable to determine. I have been known to cum 3 or 4 times in a single night and have what seems to be QUARTS ejected every time, then on other nights only cum once and produce only a few drops. Never have figured out the physiology behind that one.

I'd say, if there is no way you ever want anymore kids . . . go for it, with HIGH recommendations.

Just be prepared to sit on the couch for a week with an icepack on your nads. And even though you may feel alright after a couple days -- stay on the couch! You'll be sorry otherwise.

I had a vasectomy a year ago, and will never regret it. I still haven't worked up the nerve to tell my mother she'll have to rely on her other kids for grandchildren.

I can't speak to the taste issue (Mrs. Geek won't do that) but everything else seems exactly as it was before the *snip snip*.

Default Re: Questions about vasectomy.

I had my procedure 4 years back and it was the best thing I've done. For some reason since the procedure I'm able to come multiple times now. Starts out as a physical ejaculation, which ends and I continue on and culminates in a second more intense mental/physical ending with copious amounts of semen.
Its more like how the SO describes her orgasms then what I used to have.

My hubby had his 10 years ago. BEST THING EVER!! No more worries...he really had no problems with his. Yes he was sore for about a week but it didnt take him long to want to try it out!! MEN! lol As for the taste..i can tell it is a little different...but not a problem!! He has no other change since he had it...still can keep it up for a very long time, cums like he did before he had it, and everything to him feels just the same. I say go for it. You wont have to worry about little ones unexpectedly showing up!! It made our sex life even better since i no longer had to worry about taking the pill every night or if i was ever late!!

#1, Find a Doctor that uses a laser. I had the old fashion cut and burn Dr. The incision took for ever to heal. The younger and more modern the Dr, the better off you will be.

That said, I love having it done and it has had no ill effects on anything after it healed. Even having Dr. Frankenstein do the work, I’d do it again. Five kids is enough!

As far as how much comes out now, same as always, not a lot. Anyone know how to get more semen production?

It was a great decision and no regrets. There was a slight decrease in volume, but no big deal. I had some tenderness for several years, but not serious enough to be a problem.

Talking Re: Questions about vasectomy.

I had my vasectomy about three years ago . I did a procedure called "NO-scalple vasectomy " , it involves only a local anistetic in the scrodum and a small instermint pokes a very small hole that is used to gain access to the vas defferin , the vein that carries the sperm . the same hole is used for both sides . in my procedure the doctor choises to leave one of the cut sides open and cauterize the other side , He does this on both sides, FYI there are two veins that require cutting , he said that by leaving the one side open that it reduces swelling ,pain and the recovery time . Others that do this procedure choise to cauterize all four sides but it is a personal preference of the doctor preforming the procedure . I had it done on a friday afternoon and was back to work on monday morning ,although i was not able to lift anything heavy . and I do have a very physical job but I was able to take it easy . I had no perscription meds for pain only advil . The whole thing was done in the doctors office and was over in ten minutes . I have not noticed any change in volume and as for taste Im told that she has not noticed any change . As in a perivious post someone stated that taste is dictated by what you eat and I have also heard and been told that by others . Overall I believe that the vasectomy was a great thing for myself . I have two kids and didnt plan on anymore . I have found that without the thought of an accidental pregnancy it has made our sex life five times better if not more !! I know of others who have had the traditional vasectomy and they have had complications such as infection because of the large incission , as well as a lot of pain and swelling , also extensive bruising is not uncommon , I had none of those symptoms . I whould highly recommened looking into the NO-SCALPEL VASECTOMY if you are looking at having on done .

My husband had his vas 2 years ago. Nothing has changed except we have sex every night now, lol. I haven't noticed any difference and he says it wasn't as painful as he thought. We both think it was the best thing ever!

I had mine done 4 months ago............everyone told me it would be a piece of cake, it wasn't. I am just now getting to feel (almost) like I was before. I had several infections, had to take medications for 2 months, bleeding in my semen and urine, etc. I know I'm that one in a thousand example but thought you should get all sides of the story. I am glad I had it done but if I knew before hand the trouble I would have, I never would have had it done. Good luck to you and I hope you have great results, most do.

I don't mind admitting my age here. I had my vasectomy done while in the Army in 1975. My car was in the shop so I had to walk a mile and a half to the hospital....and then home. The only pain I felt was when the doc stuck the needle in each side to kill the pain. Ten seconds later I felt nothing. Twenty minutes later I was walking home. Got a towel and a baggie of ice and went to bed. I got up three hours later, ice all melted and after walking around for a few minutes I was fine till this day. Well, other then going to work the next day. At 0800 hours (8 am for you civilian types) I attempted the first exercise.....the side straddle hop, know to civilian types as jumping jacks. I went up on the first one and when I came down the whole world just stopped with agonizing pain. The entire company was laughing they're ass off.

It has been almost a year and a half for me. No big deal; and, the wife says she never noticed any difference in the volume or taste of my semen.

I had mine done 15 years ago. I'm now 50. I can't tell you what a relief it was walking out of the Dr.'s office knowing that I would be shooting with blanks for the rest of my life! I have never regretted the decision. No pain in the procedure, no change in the quantity of discharge, or performance.

Though I was uncomfortable for one week, the WORST part of the procedure occurred a couple of weeks later when I called the Dr.'s assistant to notify her that I would be paying a visit in 15 minutes with my follow up sample. I could have sworn everyone in the waiting room knew what was in that small brown lunch bag as I approached the reception area and turned in my sample

Thanks, this topic has helped me lean towards getting this done sooner rather than later (I'm already 45!)
