I had mine done several decades ago and have never looked back. While it was a little uncomfortable for a few days, it was not a big problem. I guess the worst part of it was actually having it done. I was so tense, you could have put a chair under my head and another under my feet and not bent my body. Every thing was stiff except my "tool" The nurse was absolutely beautiful, but safer than in church! After everything healed, my wife and I found it to be extrememly "liberating" in that we didn't have to worry about her getting pregnant! We've recommended it to several friends, but urge them to talk about it first. Not once, not twice, but several times before they decide. It should be a decision made by both partners. Should you change your mind after the operation, they may or may not be able to reversed the procedure.
