The only thing that I thought was a little weird was that he asked to take a shower after he got to your place. You're right in that it could get rid of some potential nastiness. Yep, one thing I learned fairly early is that you can always stash some clean clothes in the trunk of your car, but there's no way you can stash a shower there.
