There and back again

My life took quite a turn last year, and it basically knocked us out of the lifestyle for several months. We've gradually been trying to "get our groove back." This is not without it's challenges.

One of the challenges is availability. Ours has been more limited than ever. Part of this is due to the reason we were out for the count, and partly because of a new addition to the family.

Another challenge is that the regular Meet & Greet we used to attend has disbanded. It's a long story, but the short of it was that the location was a great midpoint for many of the regulars, so it's tougher to get to see those folks. Also, a lot of those folks have situations that have interfered with their ability to get out to party.

And last, but not least, both Mr. Sweet and I have gained weight. This was a struggle with us to begin with. And let's face it: we all feel more confident when we know we're in good shape, or are at least working toward it.

So . . . It's almost like being newbies again, trying to get out there and meet new folks. We tried going to a new hotel party last month. And like good little swingers, we did so with NO expectations other than to hopefully meet some new people and have a good time. We did, and we were our usual outgoing selves, and hung in there until around 0230. But we finally looked around the room, looked at each other, and headed back to our room. And we were happy to be alone.

Our next attempt was a meeting with a couple we'd been talking to for a long time. I was actually starting to feel butterflies in my tummy as we walked in the door. They did show up, and looked like their pictures, and Mr. Sweet and I seemed to really hit it off with the Mrs. But they left early, with a (plausible) excuse. Again, it was just Mr. Sweet and me, and we were totally fine with that. It was almost comical how NOT disappointed we were.

Yes, we're still interested in the lifestyle, and have the "itch" to play again. And there's another party we're planning to attend soon. I've even been getting my flirt on with a few of the other invited guests. Third time's a charm?

You'll both get back into the groove of things. Swinging isn't different than any other thing in life in that respect.

I'm not here a lot any more it seems...well, rather I check in but rarely post these days. Or comment on blogs here or any where as often as I used to. I'm hoping that changes soon. I find myself having to make the effort and get back into the mindset of writing things out.

You guys are already out there, not just thinking about it, and hopefully that third time/charm thing will pay off for you.

Welcome back... yes, it takes a bit of time to get back into the swing of things & like it was when y'all first started - sometimes it takes a few tries before y'all find your groove again (and a safe circle of friends & swingers to play with)

Thanks ya'll, and an update: A couple weeks ago, we attended our friends' annual BBQ and met a new couple. It was a vanilla affair, though there were several lifestyle people in attendance. We became friends on Facebook, and have been chatting since.

Well, during tonight's chat, I quoted my tagline here on Swingersboard, and he asked what our Swing Lifestyle profile name was. I told him, and sure enough our profile was one he'd marked for his fiance' to look at later! Not only have we already gotten the awkward first meeting out of the way, but we've seen each other naked (three words: strip beer pong)!

Things are looking up . . .

I want to go on the record that SWEET_TNA is a BEAUTIFUL couple irregardless of a couple vanity pounds.

Sweetie- I have no doubt in my mind that you and the Mr will be back in the saddle in no time at all with super duper GENUINE people. Awesome people like you attract other awesome people.

I wish you the best on finding another M/G venue that is close. I remember being jealous of the last one as you described it!

We've been there too. It seems like every break feels like a whole new start. For us, even going back to the same group (which hasn't changed much) after a couple months away feels like we are new again. It's nothing the group does different, they don't treat us different and in fact let us know we were very much missed. It's just you lose momentum.
