Ancient Newbie’s Profiles

It seems like I have been coming across a lot of profiles on Swing Lifestyle lately where they have been on the site for up to six years, they were logged in yesterday or today, and their profile is all about how they are new to swinging and have no experience. Some of them even have certs! Is there a reason that they don’t update their profile, or is it just plain laziness?

I think it's just laziness.

Some people take years and years to slowly get experienced in swinging. Some takes minutes and minutes Six years is a long time, but a slow moving couple might have little experience during that time. They might have explored a bit, hung it up for various reasons (illness, kids, moves, job changes, etc) and then gotten active again. There's no way to know. Take it at face value and assume good faith.

OK, you made me go check out our profile We had already changed our Newbie profile but I wanted to make sure,(someone mentioned in another thread we should update ours). In our case we rarely read our own profile. It wasn't laziness we just never really thought about what we had originally posted as a profile I guess it's time to have it reviewed too and see if we need to make any adjustments.

Then you should change your profile to state that somehow.

Its still laziness and I'd think a red flag for couples looking at the add.

I'm not sure I'd go so far as to call it a red flag. Maybe a yellow flag . I find that lots of people who are very active haven't updated their profiles in a long time. One couple I know well says they live on a boat. They haven't lived on it for almost two years. They log on almost every day, but haven't edited their profile in quite some time.

The lesson for me is that a couple can be ignoring their profile, but still perhaps be someone we'd like to meet. Or, that they like thinking of themselves as newbies, even though they are far from it :-).

The worst are the ones where their main tag-line says something like "Looking to play tonight November 15th" and it's 3 months later now...

On one site we're on, couples can "update" their ad which puts them at the top of the queue. So some people will "update" several times a day by just checking a box without actually doing anything to their ad. So they'll have gone to the trouble of opening the edit page, and checking off the box, without changing something like "looking forward to Hallowe'en at X club, when Hallowwe'en has come and gone. (sometimes quite a while ago!)

Or even better... just saw one that was updated today, and says "we just moved in June 1st"

LOL I saw a profile the other day, it said something about lets bring in 2007 with a bang or something like that. 2007!

I came across another that I hadnt seen before and decided to take a look, it said that ther were very new to this, no experience, blah blah blah, I am thinking I might like to contact them to say hi.....then look and they have been members since 2002....

I dont know, just wasnt that interested after that. Our profile has evolved as we have evolved therefore we update ours fairly often.

Well, with us potentially moving to NC, needless to say I have been looking at a lot of new profiles, and been seeing a lot of these kinds of things. We try to keep ours up-to-date and I try to read it as if I was reading it for the first time and see what I think. I can understand those that are slow out of the gate. But a profile that hasn't been updated for any reason after 3-4 years and is free waves the red fake flag to me.

that isnt late, its preplanning. they need lots of time to get ready.
