Everyone seems to think talking about politics with potential swing partners is a bad idea. I myself would agree with this mostly. But a good number of swingers also like to be friends with the people they swing with. I'm not talking about good acquaintance friends who you hang out with at the swing club, but the kind of people you help move furniture and know the names of their kids. So if you want to make friends of strangers, how do you plan on doing so if you don't let them know your opinions and you don't want to hear theirs? Are you just setting yourself up for a basic milk toast conversation where no one wants to offend anyone? When I look at who my friends are everyone is close to my political thinking (even the swingers). I do have one friend that thinks hes the polar opposite, but whats funny is that I've known him long enough to see its his wifes viewpoint that he has adopted as his own and he really doesn't disagree on substance, hes just whipped. Despite the old saying, opposites do not really attract, at least not long term. So if you are a friends type swinger, are you really doing yourself a favor by not discussing politics? |

You do have a point but in the getting to know each other talk before sex then maybe other things will be a little more wanted. I do like to get to know people but with the way people look at politics maybe that would be a better conversation at a latter time and not when you looking to have sex with his wife. We agree to disagree. Now this is the reason why I served in the Army so we all can have conversations as adults about our great country and agree or disagree without fear of the goverment. but you do have a point and a good one. ![]()

| Luv seeing friends quiver Join Date: Feb 2008 Posts: 298 Location: California central coast Status: couple SLS Name:two42lovers Blog Entries: 2 | We sure don't have anything about political views in our profile, and we don't bring up the subject when we meet someone. If they don't ever share their views, we'll never talk about ours. On the other hand, there are political philosophies we simply cannot abide. If someone starts spouting political opinions we find revolting, we say goodbye quick. Maybe the reason they announce "no people who think these ideas are true" is to avoid drama. If someone excludes them because they cannot abide people who hold those views, it's probably for the best. Personally, we find it more objectionable when people exclude others by ethnicity in their profiles. There is no chance we'd ever contact a profile saying they exclude Blacks or Latinos or any ethnic group. Not really because they don't want to play with a particular ethnicity, but because they feel the need to announce the preferance in their profiles. In the same way, if someone has political views we disagree with, no problem. If they feel the need to state their views in their profile, then it's gonna depend on what they say and how they say it. If they said "no racists" we would not have a problem. If they said "no blacks" we'd wonder if they were racist and would avoid them. Too many great couples out there to waste time on people we are unsure about.

I ask because we don't pick friends based on it BUT we find that when we do find out they tend to have similar outlooks. There may be lots of reasons for this, but I do find it quite interesting. | |

| Swingers Board Addict | We are somewhat politically active types. Occasionally we talk about it with like-minded folks, but a couple weeks ago we were at a house party and one couple had an ___ bumper sticker on their car (ours has an _____ sticker). We were mutually attracted (they were cute and great personalities too). We ALL had the sense to just not bring it up. There's enough things to talk about and basically we all want the same things- to take care of our families and have a good time going out. No need to get into it at parties (kind of like work). If people were blatant racist jerks for instance, that's something else, but in our part of the country, that's not a big issue we even come across.Last edited by LFM2 : 08-06-2008 at 10:09 PM.
